hitting the high notes.

Taking a break from work to post a few of my fave shots from our trip to my dad and stepmom’s a couple of weeks ago. It’s always such a treat to be in their home – it’s amazing how a place you didn’t grow up can feel so much like home. They do such a great job of making us feel totally and insanely welcome. I love it. Nana had two cots downstairs for the girls that were set up underneath a princess tent. They called it their castle all week and spent tons of time playing in it. Of course neither of them would actually sleep in it. Go figure.

Besides taking Charlotte and Sarah on their own mini sessions while I was there I gave me camera  bit of a rest. It’s nice to be able to just soak in the moments sometimes rather than stressing to document them. Here are a few shots though that I did work up the mojo to get…

First, B-Ro in all his adorable B-Ro-ness. My sweet cousin Lisa is holding him in this picture which makes it extra special for me.

And Lisa’s mom, my Aunt Wanda, was up for a round of “rock school” with the little girls. Not so many years ago (okay, well, a few) she taught their mamas to play rock school. And with that generation as with this one, it was an instant hit.

The highlight of Sarah’s trip? Making fudge with grandaddy. (while trendsetting with the backwards headband look, of course)

My dear, sweet Granny got to spend time reading to the girls the morning we left. This was a treasured moment for me.

And my hands-down favorite shot of the week…

The girl loves her some Nana. And I’m pretty sure the feeling’s mutal.

Well, you have to tell us how to play “rock school”!

Is rock school the same thing as rochambeau? Great pics and it sounds like a great time!!

The headband backwards thing is so Jamie too. She says it doesn’t hurt her ears if she wears it like that. Silly! I love that last cheesy smile shot. So what is “rock school”?

I guess I should have explained! To play rock school you have to have some steps. Have the kids sit on the first step and then move up or down depending on if they guess correctly which hand you have the rock in. Very fun!
