it’s time.

I’ve started this post a thousand times and I just can’t figure out the right way to say this. I created this blog over six years ago as a way of capturing all the little moments with my teeny tiny daughter. I never dreamed of all the things it would come to mean to me. I’ve met some amazing people, documented some of my favorite moments, and found a way to navigate the treacherous waters of life as a mama of two.

But you may have noticed that posting here has slowed over the last few months. To be honest, I’ve found it increasingly difficult to keep up with the demands of life. And when life gets overwhelming, blogging about life always seems to be the straw the breaks the proverbial camel’s back. I took the last week off partly because our family traveled to California to visit family, but also because I needed to clear my head and make some big decisions about this blog.

And I have.

Which is why I just have to come out and say it…as of today I won’t be blogging at The Pigbear any longer. I’ll still keep up my occasional writing gig with The Creative Mama, I’ll still be sharing over on my business blog (with maybe a few more personal things mixed in), and I’ll be pretty active on Facebook and Twitter. But I’ve got to let something go and as sad as it makes me, it’s this.

So thank you guys. Thank you for reading, laughing, crying, and loving with me. It’s been six amazing years sharing this crazy life with you. Thank you.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

(you know I can’t quit you guys.)

I’m guessing April Fools? Hope so anyway!

TammyApril 1, 2012 - 12:26 pm

I reeeeeaaalllly hope this is an April Fools joke.

Amy SargeantApril 1, 2012 - 12:32 pm

Please tell me this is April Fools?! I love your blog and know your children will treasure it. Blessings to you on your professional endeavors and I will be praying for your success and work-life balance. Thank you for all you have shared. I have never met you and truly enjoy you and your family.

LaceyApril 1, 2012 - 12:39 pm

This makes me sad, but I totally get it. 🙂 It’s been a pleasure to get to know your family through this blog and to be incredibly inspired by your documentation!

JodieApril 1, 2012 - 1:01 pm

🙁 If this is an April fools, it’s mean.

Gayle ShraderApril 1, 2012 - 1:18 pm

Am definitely going to miss your blog. I have really enjoyed reading about your families adventures – big and small.
Thank you for sharing all with us. Will miss you on here! But definitely will keep up on your business blog

DebsApril 1, 2012 - 1:24 pm

It never occurred to me it might be an April Fool but I sure hope it is. Sadly, I suspect its not. *Sigh*. I am really disappointed (although totally respect the decision – as much as we might want to, we can’t always do EVERYTHING!)

MeganApril 1, 2012 - 1:25 pm

Isn’t it funny how blogging changes once kids get older? I find myself feeling the same way…what used to be such a great outlet when I was at home 24/7 with toddlers, and what was such a great way to share and remember the big and little things now seems more like a chore mixed in with raising three (soon to be 4!) kids, sports schedules, school, photography work, etc. All that to say, I get it. But I sure will miss reading your blog!

TamiApril 1, 2012 - 1:52 pm

I too am really hoping this is an April’s Fool joke. I have enjoyed reading your blog for the past 5 years. You’ve encouraged me to blog (although I’m not very consistent), to cloth diaper, to pick up photography, and even sponsor a child through Compassion. I will continue to follow your business blog and wish you all the best!!

Connie FintelApril 1, 2012 - 2:17 pm

So so sad. I log onto your site everyday and have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know you and your family through your blog. But I totally understand. Will change my Fav link to your biz blog to keep in touch with Erin Cobb photography (you have truly been an inspiration). Guess all good things must come to an end but not really an end…just a change of address.

amyApril 1, 2012 - 2:51 pm

I have loved watching your family over the past few years. I can completely understand that something has to give. Family should always come first. I do check every day for updates and hope to get a peek of something new. I will miss that terribly! Hope to be able to follow you on facebook!

ellen pattonApril 1, 2012 - 3:42 pm

Your blog has been one of my very favorites (on the Google Reader “A Team”) and I’m glad you were willing to have a blog meet up in Boston when I asked you a few years ago. 🙂

ReneeApril 1, 2012 - 3:52 pm

You never update on weekends. Got me for a minute there! Happy April fools day!!

CarrieApril 1, 2012 - 4:20 pm

Like the other commenters, I’m hoping this is an April fool’s joke! If not, I’m sad! 🙁

heather mayberryApril 1, 2012 - 6:37 pm

That was a good one!! So believable. Thanks for sticking around.

JordanApril 1, 2012 - 9:16 pm

Oh. My. Goodness. I saw this on my reader, sans the April Fools, and then spent ten minutes explaining to my husband how much I LOVED this blog and how much I would miss it. Then I went to the actual PigBear blog to show him some photography posts, and that’s when I saw the April Fool’s. And then he laughed at me.

Errrrr… You are the only one to get me today. I let my guard down after 9pm, once I was safely in my home office. 😉

elizabethApril 1, 2012 - 9:32 pm

ha ha whatever 😉

Linda AtkinsApril 1, 2012 - 9:53 pm

I’m so glad it’s a joke, I love your blog and you make laugh and I can relate to a lot of the stuff that goes on being a mommy. Good one Erin, hope you had a wonderful vacation in Northern CA although Southern CA is better, ha ha ha, just kidding, where ever family is that’s where it’s better.
