ten on tuesday.

1. Update on travel sessions: Dayton and Louisville are fully booked with waiting lists. Still one spot each in Monterey Bay area (Aromas) and Charleston area (Isle of Palms). Email me today if you want one of those!

2. Would you believe me if I told you that our family will be in Huntsville for all of March? Me neither. It’s true though.

3. On Sunday I spent about three hours in the kitchen after church, cooking furiously. Not the mad kind of furious though. The productive kind. I was bound and determined to use up every vegetable we’ve been stockpiling from our veggie box. With the exception of two heads of cabbage and two bunches of lettuce, mission was accomplished.

4. The list of recipes includes: Carrot Ginger Soup (one of my faves), Broccoli Cheese Soup, Red Cabbage and Apple Salad, and Smashed Turnips and Rutabagas.

5. I couldn’t figure out anything to do with the one beet we had so I sliced it and we ate it raw. Sarah took beet sticks in her lunch yesterday and ate all but one. That’s my girl.

6. We’re┬áseeing Emmylou Harris and John Prine in concert this weekend. Major excitement around here.

7. We’ll be accompanied by Steven Jackson of Brighter Things fame. Right after you buy Emmylou Harris and John Prine albums, you should buy Before We Land. I know I’ve said it before, but it’s still very, very true.

8. My blogging feels very lackluster lately. I’m trying to hang in there. Business has been crazy busy and that usually means my personal photos and stories suffer. I’m working on it though! The kids are still hilariously cute. And ornery.

9. I have magnetic poetry on the chalkboards above my “office” (ha! who am I kidding? I work in my kitchen!). Three years ago I created this: “Motherhood is joy, difficult, funny, exhausting, work.” It’s still true.

10. Also still true: “That happy toddler will make a smelly teenager.”

My dad use to make a ‘marinated beet salad’ all the time and I have a friend who still talks about it. Being a fan of neither beets nor onions, I passed. I found the recipe on Allrecipes.com but it wouldn’t let me link it.

I heart Emmy Lou. There just aren’t enough superlatives to describe her voice…
