baby fever.

We have a bad case of baby fever around here.

(Stop looking at me like that. The answer is no.)

Last week while in New Orleans we made a very astute purchase for Sarah and Ephraim. Of course they asked for a “surprise” from our trip and we knew that unequivocally meant sugar. They are my children afterall. Thanks to a couple of trusty Tweeple (you know, my Twitter peeps) I was reminded that it was King Cake season! Perfect!

If you’re not familiar with King Cake, it’s almost like a large cinammon roll, sometimes with filling inside. And also, there’s a small plastic baby hidden away for one lucky taster to find. Peculiar? A little. Super fun? Definitely.

Unless you’re B-Ro. He was none to thrilled to be the finder of the baby…

And I have to give it to him. It can be a bit unsettling to come across naked, plastic human being in your food.

But once he got wind of just how much his sister wanted to have that baby, he was all over that thing.

Sarah has since successfully found a (planted) King Cake baby of her own.

So the baby fever is beginning to subside. Which is a good thing, since King Cake babies are the only kind we plan to have around here. 😉

I literally laughed out loud! I can totally get how Ephraim would be a little weirded out. It is kind of creepy. Yay, for King Cakes though!

So glad the King Cake rec was a good one for you! Now I need to see if I can find one here locally in Atlanta… yum.

Where did you end up getting yours?

His facial expressions are the best. I could not stop laughing. You can almost feel what he is thinking. Those little baby things have always freaked me out since I was little, so good to know they put those in there, make sure I avoid that if I ever go to New Orleans.

This is hilarious! I laughed til I had tears as I scrolled through those photos of Ephraim finding the baby. I can see how he would be creeped out by it. But it totally reminded me of how my younger son would act, only to do a complete 180 the second he figured out his brother wanted it. Thanks for the laughs!
