mother of boys | huntsville child photographer

As of last weekend I know of at least one daddy in Madison County who has checked Mother’s Day off his to-do list. On Saturday I had the absolute pleasure of photographing a friend of mine and her two young boys — her requested Mother’s Day gift from her husband. So while he served as designated cabana boy we ran around the backyard capturing this precious time with her sons.

I LOVE the fact that she wanted to do this. So many times mamas are missing from the family albums since they’re often clicking the shutter (guilty here as well). But you can’t get back days and moments like this…

That’s her with her miracle boy – born at 26 weeks and now healthy as a horse. And spunky as a wild pony. 😉

And big brother…who is so sweet and smart and just all around awesome…

I tell you, now that I have a son of my own I have a new respect for mamas of boys. It’s a hard job raising men of dignity, courage and compassion. But I’m not worried about these two one bit. If you knew their mama and daddy, you wouldn’t be either.

We did the session in their backyard which has been newly landscaped (gorgeousness!) and backs up to a picturesque rambling creek. There’s no fence or anything, just a little dropoff where the grass ends and the creek begins. It is little boy HEAVEN. And until Saturday afternoon, they’d never ventured into it. I  sure hope their mama loves these images enough to make up for the fact that her boys will be begging to get back down there every afternoon this summer!

Thanks for the invite you guys. I loved every minute of it…even the falling in the creek part!

martha These are beautiful pictures! What a great gift for a mom. I see a canvas being ordered! Great job Erin, so envious of your pictures.

Kelly Ryan I LOVE the first shot. It’s so Norman Rockwell, yet so real. Being a mom of 3 boys, this shoot is especially touching to me. After my 3rd son starts walking, I would love to have the same kind of session the next time you are out in CA. But my backyard doesn’t look like that so we will have to find another rolling creek/forest kind of backdrop! BEAUTIFUL work.

Heather I am always ALWAYS so in love with your pictures. Not only do you nail the moment by capturing giggles, wrinkled noses, smiles, laughter, contemplation, and love – but you also nail skin tones, white balance, exposure, and composition. I will continue to wait patiently for the day you say you have time to mentor. Stunning.

Kristi Kelly WOW. Just WOW!

Kelly Hudson I just love seeing my friends just the way I think of them:) These are just awesome. I can’t wait to help find the perfect place for them.

Heather What great photos of these guys. I can’t believe you caught them sitting still, I never see them where they aren’t running around (as little boys do) and playing. What great photos. I know she’ll love them.
