ten on tuesday.

1. Brent and I leave for our whirlwind tour of the west coast on Friday. Our 10 year anniversary trip just a couple years late. We’ll be hitting up the Monterey Bay, Napa, Klamath Falls, Ashland, Portland, Whidbey Island and Seattle. If there’s something we just have to see, link me up in the comments!

2. Because our primary mode of transportation for this trip will be train I’m going to work hard to keep packing to a minimum. This is a challenge for a girl who usually travels with one bag just for shoes. Pinterest to the rescue though! If what some of these pins say is true I’ll be bringing like five items of clothing for 9 days. Or something. My math may be off but I swear I’m going to give this packing light thing a try!

3. If you see me in Monterey Bay, Napa, Klamath Falls, Ashland, Portland, Whidbey Island or Seattle and I look frazzled and dirty, see #2.

4. Last night Brent replaced the faucet in our kitchen which had slowed to a trickle thanks to hard water build up. He also replaced the sprayer which had sprung a leak thanks to hard water build up. And the soap pump which stopped working four years ago. Couple all of that with the new (to us) set of silverware my in-laws passed on to us and I feel like we just remodeled the whole darn kitchen! Now if we can just fix the stove top I broke on Christmas Day ’11…

5. I’m getting back into my running groove and am thinking of attempting three races this race season. (Race season to me = months when it’s cool enough to run 13.1 miles = November through March). Birmingham, Lynchburg, Seaside and Huntsville are all in my sights right now. Opinions? What races do you like?

6. Last week Sarah was elected to be the student council representative from her class. She wrote a great speech to lobby for her election but she said that after listening to a few of her friends read theirs she realized that hers wasn’t “fancy” enough. So she added this little bit to the end…”hey, hey, vote for may!” I was initially confused by who May was.Β  And then I realized that “may” is just Southern for “me”. Somewhere in Boston my BFF just died a little inside…

7. My Supper Club is contemplating a Spring trip to Louisville for the Derby. We’re a bit stumped on where to stay though. If you’re a Louisville insider and you have any hot tips I’d love to hear them!

8. Currently reading: Shanghai Girls by Lisa See (author of a Colorado book club fave, Snowflower and the Secret Fan). My next read should arrive tomorrow and was an impulse order after listening to an NPR piece about it: Wonder Women: Sex, Power, and the Question for Perfection. We’ll see!

9. I’ll probably be skipping ToT next week because I’ll be on a double date with the ever fabulous Karen Russell. SO excited about that.

10. For that matter I don’t think I’ll be doing much blogging period next week…because I’ll be on a non-stop date with my ever fabulous husband. So, SO excited about that.

For your Louisville trip, take a look at the Brown Hotel. It’s a beautiful, historic building and just lovely. Have stayed there the last two years for a conference and loved it. http://www.brownhotel.com/ I couldn’t recommend it more highly, although their restaurant has a signature dish with a vaguely rude name. πŸ˜‰

I don’t know anything about where to stay anywhere or packing light, but I do know that a trip with your love is great! We celebrate 10 years come December 13th and my hubby was planning a trip to our Mexican honeymoon spot. Then we learned that our baby boy was on the way due December 3rd. Looks like we will be in the same position celebrating a couple of years late. Have a wonderful time, I’m so excited for you! On the race front, I’ve always heard that the seaside race is fun!

OMG I was having a heart attack before I even got to the mention of the Boston BFF… That girl needs to return to her YANKEE roots! I will forgive and forget if you’ll take me to the Derby! I want a big ole hat!!!!!

In Louisville, stay at the Galt House (right on the river, fantastic views) or the Brown (historic). The Galt is very centrally located to downtown L’ville. When you’re there, you have to get a Hot Brown. Famous L’ville delight.

Never commented before as I am admittedly a lurker, but I must share that once you learn how to pack light, you will never lug a big suitcase again. No matter how long I am gone, I pack a 21″ suitcase and a backpack. It is insanely freeing to go light. Have a great trip.

Louisvillian here! You could try the Brown Hotel, Seelbach, 21c hotel, Galt house, or downtown Hyatt or Marriott. But be warned, pretty much any hotel aroun Derby time is going to be expensive and will book up early!!

With havin so much written content do you ever run into any problems of plagorism or copyright infringement? My site has a lot of exclusive content I’ve either authored myself or outsourced but it looks like a lot of it is popping it up all over the internet without my permission. Do you know any ways to help protect against content from being stolen? I’d truly appreciate it.

But ask that exact same individual to go house as well as leave a review
on your google+ local account and they nearly never follow up with it.
