glasses girl.

Would you believe I have seven backlogged blog posts? Seven. Power blogging coming at you in the next week!

But first, Pigbear and her glasses.

If you’ve seen us around Facebook, Twitter or Instagram then this look isn’t new to you. But lots have asked what’s up so here’s the deal. For the entirety of the Summer Sarah has been begging for fake glasses. At every reading glass kiosk she saw she would beg for a pair. Even when I explained that reading glasses weren’t fake she said she didn’t care…she’d wear them even if they made her vision blurry. Um, no.

So when Target had a display of fakies right smack in the middle of the little girl’s clothing I knew I’d been had. I bought her this pair of $5 glasses to pacify her, thinking that 24 hours later she wouldn’t even know where they were. Um, again – no.

For a solid month she has only taken them off to sleep. In fact three days ago she realized halfway to school that she’d left them at home and after seeing her on the brink of a full-fledged crying meltdown I ran back to the house to grab them off her nightstand. It’s serious people.

When you ask her why she wears them she’ll tell you two things: 1) they’re comfortable and 2) she looks like an awesome nerd.  I can’t imagine that wearing glasses is as comfortable as not wearing glasses but I will agree with her second point. And awesome nerds happen to be my favorite kind of people on the planet. (Just look at my life mate: Awesomest, handsomest nerd God ever made.)

So I say, go for it Sarah. Rock that inner nerd with everything you’ve got. I like a girl who knows who she is and you, my dear, are just that kind.

Oh my goodness…she and my daughter would get along so well! Mine has a few pairs now of fake glasses (Claire’s has a large selection if you are ever looking for more)…when school shopping this year she told me she was going for the “nerdy school girl look”! Side note: Her other favorite toy is crutches! My husband bought an old car off ebay when she was about 4 and in the trunk was a pair of crutches…he cut them down for her and she has been hobbling around on them ever since!

I’ve wanted glasses since I was 10! Now that I’m old…I’ve settled for the drug store “readers”. I have about 8 pair (purse, work, upstairs, downstairs, kitchen, etc.). She sure looks cute with her fakies. 🙂
