grandkids epic adventure: part II

On the second morning of our epic Nashville adventure we set out for the country. Which wasn’t hard because Grama and Grandad already live in the country. In fact, the kids moan and groan every time we get in the car because it takes forever to get anywhere. Truth be told, their parents moan and groan too. 😉

But this was worth the drive even further into the country. Grandad hooked us up with a real live train caboose that belonged to some friends of his. Spot for our annual grandkid photos? Check!

Getting them to all actually smile and look halfway decent at the same time? Not quite as easy.

Have no fear, there will be some major head-swap manipulation going on before any of these bad boys get printed.

Although maybe we’ll just go with this one and call it a day…

As long as we were all out there I decided to grab a few shots of each family group. Jen and Brody were the first photogenic, willing victims, er, subjects…

Sidenote: We all thought Brody’s shirt said “beep beep”, which was a little confusing on a super tough eight year old such as himself. Until we were informed that it actually said “be epic” in triplicate. Ah. That makes much more sense. Because our Brody-boy is nothing if not a triple dose of epic.

And speaking of epic, these guys play that part pretty darn well…

I mean, seriously, who else if epic enough to fly home to California with an extra seven year old in tow…only to return a week later to drop her back off? But of course the ultimate award has to go to these guys…   Grama and Grandad are tireless in their efforts to entertain and memory-make with these children all weekend long. In case you couldn’t tell.

A re-positioned rotted out table and a self-timer even allowed for a shot that would include my own little fam…

And if you’re wondering what got into us for this next shot,

Just blame it on the seven collective blood-sucking ticks we pulled off of bodies after this shot was taken.

Now if that isn’t country-style epic, I don’t know what is.

Happy family portrait day, er’body!
