ten on tuesday.

1. I’m a mama of three this week and I couldn’t be happier about it! My sister and brother-in-law flew in from CA to spend the weekend at my mom’s and they left my sweet niece Charlotte behind for an extra week. When Meghan comes to pick Charlotte up next week she’s going to take home an extra souvenir of her own…Pi’bears Cobb! Sarah is SO excited about having her own adventure out west with Charlotte and I’m trying to keep my mama fears at bay. I know they’re going to have a blast together!

2. I met today with a director at Huntsville’s Downtown Rescue Mission about photographing the mothers and children who live there. I am SO excited. We’ve targeted a date for mini sessions with them and I’m going to be enlisting some of you all for a bit of help with that project. Be sure to “like” the Erin Cobb Photography Facebook page if you want to know more about what I have planned for those families in the next few days!

3. Tomorrow I get to meet a new batch of precious children who will soon be featured in Alabama’s Heart Gallery. I know from last year’s experience what fun I’m going to have tomorrow and I can’t wait to see those sweet faces! And of course my friend Amy and her group of d0-gooders came through again in a big way with gift bags for each of the children. Thanks Amy! I can’t wait to see them open up their goodies!

4. In other photography related news, I jumped on the bandwagon and joined the Adobe Creative Cloud today. Not totally sure how I feel about it yet but so far so good.

5. For the next two weeks I’m taking part in my friend Julie’s TripleBraided Summer Challenge. I’m on a team of five and we get points throughout the day for achieving various wellness objectives. Today we were supposed to plank three times for 30 seconds each (no prob) and then…jump rope. I think you know how that ended. Sorry, Team.

6. I’m reading The Marriage Plot right now. I grabbed it from the library when I saw “winner of the Pulitizer Prize” on the cover. Then I got home and realized that the author was the winner, not the book.Β  Doh. (Jeffrey Eugenides won for Middlesex which was a great book. The jury’s still out on this one.)

7. My husband is hanging out with a couple of friends right now and watching soccer on television. If his Dad finds out Brent might just get written out of the will.

8. I found Ephraim a mint condition Battleship game this weekend at the Goodwill. He’s now obsessed. Worth every penny of that dollar ninety-nine.

9. I also found a copy of The Magician’s Nephew which is chronologically the first book in the Chronicles of Narnia. Our family is almost through with The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and I’m now realizing we started on the wrong book!

10. Best one for last: GIVEAWAY! My friend Elizabeth Dillow asked if I’d be willing to give away a spot in Big Picture’s upcoming Phone Photography Project. Um, yes please! Especially considering my personal favorite iphone photographer the talented Miss Amy Shertzer is one of the contributors.

To enter, just drop a random comment about any of this week’s randomness. I’ll pick a winner later this week!

Sara PadgettJune 18, 2013 - 8:26 pm

My son (7) loves Battleship and we play it all the time. Didn’t get a Goodwill deal on it (birthday present) but one of the best gifts he has received.

JennyJune 18, 2013 - 8:31 pm

What fun for Sarah to have a special trip with her cousin! I can’t wai to meet Amy hopefully in the upcoming weeks, we arrive in LA on Sunday! Have a good week, Erin!

JenniferJune 18, 2013 - 8:35 pm

I love the Chronicles of Narnia.

Carol MoyerJune 18, 2013 - 8:43 pm

I would love pictures done by Erin, would a box of Esther Price be a good bribe?

Jordan T.June 18, 2013 - 8:50 pm

Oh, how I love Narnia books! There’s two different orders to them though: the way they’re traditionally displayed, which starts with the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and the chronological version which starts with the Magician’s Nephew (which, in the traditional order, is 6th, I think). The Horse and His Boy is set in Narnia when the four children are reigning, before they’ve come back to our world, but everything else is after they come back. πŸ™‚ I love the magic of the stories!

mindyJune 18, 2013 - 9:44 pm

i still cannot get on board with the creative cloud. it seems like a lot of $$ for something you’ll never really own. i have CS4 & lightroom 4 already & so i think i will just stick with that for awhile πŸ™‚

Love the idea of the Heart Gallery project. We adopted a gorgeous black baby girl from Louisville, Kentucky 21 years ago so we have a heart and passion for finding homes for unwanted kids. We have since taken under our wings her birth brother and we are loving our extended family. Thank you for being part of such an awesome project…families are created in so many ways. Our baby girl is now a United States Marine stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC…not too far from your neck of the woods. So we’re a military family too.

TeresaJune 19, 2013 - 1:24 am

So excited about the possibility of learning new iPhone techniques! Thanks for the opportunity!

ChristaJune 19, 2013 - 1:59 am

Hooray for Triplebraided Summer Challenge. I grew up in Bloomer, WI also known as the Jump Rope Capital of the World! Keep on jumping πŸ™‚

CheriJune 19, 2013 - 4:08 am

I signed up for the phone photography class. Looking forward to class and learning from your friend, Amy. Battleship is one of my favorite games.

MichelleJune 19, 2013 - 5:06 am

Battleship….awesome. There’s one game that I WILL play with my kids. (Can’t handle Monopoly or Life but love Quirkle, Racko and Blokus…you can tell which side of my brain is dominant :))

ValerieJune 19, 2013 - 5:10 am

I just wanted to tell you that I live in Colorado Springs and this communty is amazing! 502 homes lost, yet the generosity and love is contagious. We are ColoradoStrong!

Jennifer JohnsonJune 19, 2013 - 5:16 am

I love that you’re photographing the families at the mission… And I’d love to win the class!

NickiJune 19, 2013 - 5:37 am

We have started The Magician’s Nephew several times, but haven’t made it through it. Need to try again now that it’s summer. Thanks for reminding me πŸ™‚

KarenJune 19, 2013 - 5:46 am

Cindi LJune 19, 2013 - 5:56 am

Just wanted to say (a) your number 8 has just insprired me to go to my closest thrift store on my lunch break today and (b) I’m now the proud owner of your Clean Color Full Photoshop tutorial, I’ve watched it twice, and my photos have been forever changed so (in the exact words of my littlest’s favorite toy Cowboy Woody after he says “Ooooh you just found my hat!”) Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU!!!!” πŸ™‚

AllisonJune 19, 2013 - 6:28 am

I have a wonderful dSLR, but I find that I take a lot of pictures with my iPhone. I would love to learn how to be more creative with my crazy little phone.

ToriJune 19, 2013 - 6:41 am

This class sounds like a lot of fun! Thanks for the chance to win a spot! As for Battleship… it’s one of my boys’ favorite games!

MichelleJune 19, 2013 - 6:49 am

Yesterday was my baby’s 3rd birthday. I’m so sad. Time flies.

JackieJune 19, 2013 - 7:42 am

Fun! We’re doing a cousin exchange this summer too. πŸ™‚ Mine isn’t as far as yours, but I’m sure it will be a blast!!

NicoleJune 19, 2013 - 7:44 am

This photography class looks great. I could use some tips on taking my iPhone photography to the next level!

EmilyJune 19, 2013 - 7:54 am

Lots and lots of folks start with The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe instead of The Magician’s Nephew. It’s actually kind of nice to read TMN last so you get to see the origins of Narnia πŸ™‚

KelliJune 19, 2013 - 8:06 am

Yay for a chance to win! The Magician’s Nephew is chronologically first, but the characters don’t come back until The Last Battle, so don’t worry about starting with The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. πŸ˜‰

Jen GrantJune 19, 2013 - 8:50 am

One of the things I most look forward to as the girls get older is reading books together…not the “blue ball…red fire engine…yellow sun” books that we are reading now! =)

cathyJune 19, 2013 - 9:51 am

So excited for all your photography projects. And you’re such a good Christian girl. I love it!

ShawnaJune 19, 2013 - 10:58 am

I took your lead and purchased The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe to ready to my book-loving 6 year old.. Oops, guess I need to get the 1st book! πŸ™‚ Or does it not matter so much?

J.J.June 19, 2013 - 11:59 am

Fisher found my brothers old battleship game at my moms but after playing on the iPad, it’s a bit slower:) he lasts for about half a game!

Jamie De LunaJune 19, 2013 - 12:22 pm

Getting ready for the hubby’s poker night this weekend. Love that I am forced to have time for myself during his poker nights.
My iPhone pictures need so much help! Would LOVE to win a spot in this class! Thank you for the chance!

Julie SatterfealJune 19, 2013 - 12:30 pm

AnitaPJune 19, 2013 - 1:04 pm

Sounds like really cool class! Thanks for the chance to win!

JocelyneJune 19, 2013 - 1:38 pm

Actually starting with The Lion, the Witcg, and the Wardrobe was perfect. I think if you started with the other too much would be given away.

Mary Kathryn BaileyJune 19, 2013 - 3:03 pm

Cant wait to check out the wellness challenge!

ShelleyJune 19, 2013 - 7:07 pm

Can this be considered my “like”? I want to be kept updated on Downtown Rescue Mission project! (and enter the contest) πŸ™‚

ErinJune 19, 2013 - 7:38 pm

My husband just informed me that Creative Cloud, which we have, includes Lightroom. I don’t know why this didn’t occur to me, and I’m so pumped!!

I can’t wait to hear all about how the Heart Gallery went! Last year those children just crushed my heart! And I can’t wait to hear about the Rescue Mission!! What a beautiful heart you have! Our kids have found our old Guess Who game at my mom & dad’s house…serious Guess Who Tourney’s have taken place…we are scooping old games up off ebay! I will have to check out thrift stores!

VictoriaJune 20, 2013 - 11:31 am
