t-ball: a love story.

I have a vivid memory of being 14 years old. I was on the track team which wasn’t an accomplishment in my high school and only meant that I was interested in getting an athletic study hall. We had a meet at a neighboring high school and I was strolling the bleachers waiting for it to begin. I turned around to see a boy in a baseball uniform who sent my heart into my throat. I’m sure I said something dumb (or nothing at all) with a scowl on my face. It was my immediate defense every time I saw that boy. And the delicious baseball uniform he was wearing + the gawd-awful track uniform I was wearing exacerbated my extremely unfriendly condition. But he was characteristically kind and when he strolled off theΒ clop clop clop of his cleats echoed in my 14 year old brain for quite some time.

It’s been a long time since a baseball player has left me speechless and hopelessly in love. Almost 20 years in fact.

And the funny thing is, both of their jerseys looked like this…

Like father like son, right?

How that horribly awkward 14 year old landed these two charmers, I’ll never know.

But this proud baseball mama is so, so glad she did. And I’m so, so proud of my little t-ball man.

Twenty years ago I never would have believed that high school baseball player could have gotten any cuter.

But I was wrong.

With our five year old in his lap and a dozen juice boxes in his hand,
there’s just no competition.

Hey the Pirate’s first baseman was blocking the bag. I hope the coach is teaching the base runners how to handle that.

Great story and pictures! I’m always amazed when I hear stories of adults that are still married to their high school sweethearts.

But most importantly, your son is the most adorable boy ever.

That was the cutest story and photos ever! The little guy is too cute. But the photo of the two of them leaning against that pole? TOO adorable!
