ten on tuesday.

1. I’m sitting down to write this ToT post with an episode of 19 Kids and Counting playing in the background. TV is a rarity for me and I never catch this show. I was immediately struck by the intro where the Father is explaining that as a “surprise” for his wife (and mother of his 19 children!) he decided to take her and the fam on a trip to Asia.

Um.

What mother wants to corral a dozen and a half children around the world as a “birthday surprise”?! Brent, if this is on your list of possible gifts for me this year scratch it off now. Your life depends on it.

2. Last week I finished The Secrets of Happy Familiesand with the exception of the seemingly hastily written ending (and plethora of typos in the last few pages) I really enjoyed it. Besides, who am I to judge typos? I sprinkle them around this ol’ blog like candy. 😉 I have three people in line (starting with my husband) to read the book after me. If you’re in the family-creating business, you might like it too.

3. My next read is Me Before Youby JoJo Moyes. So far I’m digging it. Next up is What the Dog Saw. I don’t know what’s gotten into me lately…I’m on a serious reading streak. I think my first grader is rubbing off on me!

4. Have you read the now viral blog post on Rage Against the Minivan titled Let’s Bring the Holidays Down a Notch? All I can say is yes. Yes we can.

5. I’m thankful that Clean Color for Lightroom has been so well received, and I’m thankful to have had my tutorials featured on Becky Higgins’ blog last week! I can remember first learning about Becky when I was a beginning scrapbooker probably 10 years ago. She’s nothing short of an icon in that community and her Project Life concept has revolutionized the industry. Seeing my name on her blog was quite a surreal experience for me! The discount code I shared on Becky’s blog is good through THIS Friday so use “projectlifers” if you want $20 off Clean Color for Photoshop, Elements, OR Lightroom!

6. And if you want a chance at one of those tutorials (plus a 1 hour phone consult with me!) for FREE…head over to Karen Russell’s blog and read all about it…

7. I got a 10 miler in today with my friend Julie which puts me one step (well, lots of steps actually!) closer to my next half marathon on April 6th. Which also happens to be the birthday of two of my favorite people – my neighbor/friend/former co-worker extraordinaire, Heather AND my daughter’s namesake. It’s bound to be a good day.

8. The kids caught me crying at the Cottage last week (no worries…minor mommy stuff) and they both seemed rather stunned. Sarah offered a few kind words but Ephraim studied me for a few seconds before softly demanding, “dry it up, Mommy.” So that’s just what I did. Ha!

9. Yesterday we celebrated report cards with a trip to Krispy Kreme. One donut for every A! As much as I don’t agree with letter grades in First Grade, I was pretty happy to walk out with half a dozen hot ones!

10. Have I mentioned that we’re heading to Dayton next week for Spring Break? The kids and I are stoked! Ohio friends, let’s get together!!!

I just read “Me Before You” and I absolutely loved it. I also then got my 18 year old daughter to read it and she also loved it. I predict it’s going to be the next big book that sweeps the nation.

I tried to click for Secrets of Happy Families, but it wouldn’t work. Is it the title by Feiler or Haltzman?

LOVED “Me Before You” and recommended it to a bunch of people who have also loved it! Let us know what you think! I was looking for a new book recommendation so perhaps I’ll try What the Dog Saw! Thanks! Enjoy Dayton, we miss that place oh so much!

Whoa…. I hadn’t seen 19 Kids since they were 17 Kids (I think), but I happened to catch part of it last night, too! A whole brood in Japan? Thank you, no.
And I am all about turning down the holidays a notch… hopefully that will be the new trend by the time my kid is old enough to notice! Great post, Erin!

Pack your warm gear for your Dayton visit. Today is the second day of spring, but we had snow this morning!
