ten on tuesday.

1. Sarah and I were having a discussion about all of the Ms. Amy’s we know – Caden’s mommy, Hayden’s mommy, Shelby’s mommy, Ms. Amy our music teacher, Ms. Amy our preschool aide…and on and on. At the end of our list Sarah announced, “I can’t handle all of them!”.  I think what she meant was that we can’t handle anymore. We’re perfectly happy with all our beloved Ms. Amy’s. However, we’ve ceased taking applications for any other “Amy” friends. Sorry.

2.Ephraim started up with a new word today – cooka (cookie). I’m surprised it’s taken him this long since the child is obsessed with all things sugar related. He pitches an absolute screaming fit when the dessert is all gone. I haven’t a clue where he got that. 😉  (eta: when proofreading I caught the following error – “I pitches an absolute fit..” . That is the definition of a Freudian slip, my friends!)

3. Sarah’s sense of smell is really developing and I’m not so sure it’s a good thing. The other morning as we were laying in bed snuggling I whispered something sweet to her and in response I got, “I don’t like that stinky smell”. Nice.

4. I think it’s the end of an era around here – I’m no longer a scrapbooker. I’ve thought this for a while but was clinging to hope that one day I would find my mojo and pick it up again. It hasn’t happened. Rather than feeling guilty about it I’m embracing the fact that I keep three blogs – two of which document my family life – and those are serving my memory-making purposes right now. I’m sad to let it go but I already feel more free!

5. Along those lines, I spent the weekend clearing out all of my supplies and fun embellishments. I’ll be creating several listings on ebay later this week that some of you may be interested in – kolo albums, tons of embellishments, stickers, rub-ons, etc. I’ll let you know when they’re up!

6. Speaking of weekends I’ve decided to make a more concerted effort not to work on Sundays. This means no sessions (besides the ones I already have scheduled and couldn’t rearrange), no proofing, no site work, no emails – nothing. In an attempt to help myself to that end I’ve decided to leave the computer completely off until Sunday evening after the kids are in bed. This weekend was my first go at it and it was so refreshing! I’ll admit that I kind of wandered around the house for a couple of hours after church wondering what to do with myself but once I got into the groove it was awesome!

7. For those who love Etsy finds here’s my latest find. I guess technically it’s not my latest find since I bought it on December 9th for my little man William. As it turns out his mama and I had previously decided not to exchange Christmas gifts among our families and I, being of never-present mind, completely forgot and bought him one anyway. She’s such a great friend that she stashed it away for me and gave it to him for his (gasp! how can it be!) first birthday this weekend. At any rate, I particularly loved that it was made from recycled wood picked up from the Habitat Restore Store (which just so happens to be William’s daddy’s favorite place – right Stevie?).

8. As soon as I wrap up this blog I’m heading over to my little linky section and finally linking up my sweet neighbor Heather’s blog, Richardson Style. I’ve been a bad neighboring blogger for far too long.

9. Speaking of neighbors, here’s one of my faves…

hee hee hee hee. I’ll be laughing about that one for a while! =) I know he stalks my blog so I just had to do it!

10. And finally, after many false alarms we definitely have the details of our Dayton trip worked out. We’ll be headed north on May 10 and will be there for two weeks until the 22nd. I’ll be taking sessions for that overlapping weekend (16th). If you’ve already inquired previously I’ll shoot you an email. If you don’t hear from me in the next few days and would like to have your family or little one photographed, get in touch!

p.s. I have no worries about announcing the dates of my vacant home since we have a pretty buff and nosy neighborhood watch dude. (see above)

Your kids are hilarious, Erin! Gotta love the brutal honesty of little ones. Just wanted to suggest that you try digital scrapbooking. I was a traditional scrapper for years, and made the switch, and it’s so much easier. No mess, no wasted paper (how green is that?!?!), it’s impossible to screw up a layout, and there are some amazing freebies available to get you started – plus you can use the papers & embellishments over and over again. Then, when you finish a layout you just have the page printed and slip it into an album – DONE. I’ve been doing digiscrapping for a few years now and I LOVE IT. 🙂

After being a Creative Memories consultant for 10 years, I quit scrapbooking too, fairly soon after I started getting into photography and blogging. And, thanks to YOU, I am so excited about blurb! Your book of Sarah’s first year was what convinced me. (But, I have to admit, you make it look so easy–I’ve uploaded and now feel so overwhelmed by it, especially since all my photos are too low resolution. I’m sure I’ll figure it out eventually.

I love number three above. That is hysterical!! TFS

Yes! Yes! Yes! Dayton in May. I would LOVE to book a session with you! I am running a 5k the morning of the 16th in Columbus, but will come right home after the race if I can get a session with you sometime that weekend! I am so excited about the possibility of getting my girls’ pics taken by you…and a couple of family pics too! The girls just had their birthdays, so the timing is PERRRRFect!!! I am so excited!

That picture is hilarious. It really captures the essence of that crazy man!

Awwww, as an Amy, I’m sad that I missed the cutoff to be friends. There were tons of us in the 70s. I’ve started taking a day or two off of the computer on the weekends, but sneak in an email check or two on my iphone. It is nice to leave the computer off for a while. I do try to limit FB time to just Monday nights 🙂

I’ve got to admit that us Amy’s are pretty darn cool 😉 It’s a good name! I love your no-computer resolution for Sundays. I might just have to adopt that! And I wish I could cut the ties with scrapbooking. My frugal, don’t waste anything nature keeps hanging onto hope that one day I’ll get back to it.

Yet another Amy leaving a comment. I’m so bummed you aren’t accepting any more Amy friends. Love the idea of no computer on Sunday. I may have to try that (although I also picture myself wandering around at first, wondering what to do. LOL)

WOW – I didn’t know you had such a hunky neighbor!! When can I come visit?! 🙂

AmyJApril 2, 2009 - 1:08 pm

I’ve been surrounded by Amys all my life – tons in school, lived with one, worked with several – gets confusing!! We are good stuff 🙂
Great ten!

We are excited to see you in DAYTON! It should be beautiful by the time you get here. Spring has sprung with green velvet looking lawns and cherry blossoms in full force. Please keep a time block for my Danger and Lil’ Adventure! They’ve been growing their long eye lashes for the photo shoot. 🙂 Why is it that the boys always get the good eye lashes?! See you super soon!
