christmas parading and vocabulary learning.

Just a couple of Christmas posts left. Think I can do it before January is over? Go ahead, dare me.

Brent and Sarah’s Indian Princess tribe has a few main events throughout the year. Participating in the Huntsville Christmas parade is one of them. So Skinny Tree and White Feather mounted their trusty steed and headed downtown to join the rest of their tribe in the parade.

Except that this time,

their steed wasn’t so “trusty”,

and they had to turn back after a couple of blocks and mount their even trustier steed – the F150.

I think they still get a badge for attempted environmental responsibility. Or something.

Meanwhile, B-Ro and I actually did make it downtown on our bike, and staked out a spot in the crowd with some familiar faces.

Hi Bubbers!

The tribes started rolling through about a third of the way through the parade. Betsy and Mr. Joel’s tribe – the Biloxi – came through first…

And then we caught sight of the mighty, mighty Choctaw.

I never thought a canvas vest and a santa hat would be such a sexy combo.

Who knew?

Sidenote: The theme of the Huntsville Christmas parade was “A Christmas Story”. Being the diligent parents that we are we decided we should show the children the movie so they would be more aware of the theme. I had never seen it before (which goes without saying since I’ve only seen about five full movies in my life, one of which is the critically acclaimed Little Rascals).  Brent assured me it was appropriate for the whole family but I think his memory must be in decline. Because our seven year old now knows the real live F word and I caught Ephraim mouthing the phrase that accompanies the acronym S.O.B. right along with Ralphie.

Now there’s a Christmas story for ya.

That last part gave me a flash back of renting Little Darlings for you and Meghan. Ugh!

The Christmas Story was one of my dad’s favorite movies, and we still quote it All. The. Time. When you said Brent’s memory must be failing, I thought, What was in it that was inappropriate? Oh yeah. Right. I was thinking Fragile, and You’ll Shoot Your Eye Out, but totally forgot about the inappropriate language and soap parts. 🙂

Erin, commonsensemedia.com is perfect for movies I want my kids to see but can’t really remember what is good/bad about them.
