ten on tuesday.

1. To the kind soul who tweeted last Tuesday, “Bring back ToT!! My life needs you in it. :)”…this one’s for you. Thanks for making me feel needed/missed/not crazy for posting these nutty things!

2. I’m about to head out the door to photograph one of my very last families of 2012. I sure love what I do but I’m sure ready for a bit of a creative break! My plans for rekindling my creative fire includes stalking lots and lots of my favorite photogs over the next couple of months. It’s been too long since I’ve had time to just browse. Leave your site in the comments section so I can check you out too!

3. There’s a handyman in my bedroom as I type, putting the finishing touches on our master bedroom overhaul. He’s installing a plantation shutter. I’ve hated my bedroom for about five years…and now I love it! Can’t wait to show pics. Now I just need some wall art.

4. I really want prints over our nightstand that somehow speak to who we are. Any ideas? Cool Etsy shops? Letterpress you love? Please share!

5. Tonight Ephraim told me he knows three bad words: the “s” word, the “d” word, and the “o” word. Having taught kindergarten I was very familiar with the “s” and the “d” w0rds – “stupid” and “dumb” – but was stumped on the “o” word. Good thing I asked. Turns out “Oooo, uh uh” is the worst of the worst among the five year old crowd.

6. I spent some time this evening googling to try and diagnose a skin condition Sarah has going on right now. Trust me, if there’s a skin condition to be had the Cobbs are going to come down with it. And also trust me on this: google images is not your friend when it comes to searching skin conditions. I have only one word to describe that experience: oooh, uh uh.

7. Sarah is asking for a karaoke machine for Christmas. If you have a good experience with a certain brand, I’d love to hear about it!

8. I’m thinking about taking the plunge and ordering the Canon 5d mark iii. I’ve been hesitant after my focus issues with the mark ii but everything I’ve read says that the focusing system on the mark iii is far superior. If that turns out to be true I think I may sell my backup Canon original 5d. It has very few actuations – like probably less than 1,000. If you’re in the market for a full frame camera but don’t want to drop the cash on a mark ii or mark iii, this may be the one for you. I love my classic but I just don’t need three 5d’s!

9. One Kings Lane and Joss & Main have become my home decorating crack. Just this week I’ve ordered a rug, a mirror, and possibly a replica of an ancient wooden owl carving. Okay, only two of those things are real. But still, I’m a full-fledged savings site addict.

10. Guess who’s taking her family’s Christmas picture this weekend? This girl.

Pray for me.

Yay! Glad you’re back 🙂

Marie TaylorNovember 27, 2012 - 10:29 pm

Just curious, how much are you selling it for?

Shari FoxNovember 28, 2012 - 5:46 am

Yay! I am happy to see Ten for Tuesday back!

Super excited ToT is back. I’m no good at decorating but I love Young House Love (www.younghouselove.com). They always have super great ideas for sprucing up stuff on the cheap.

I am upgrading from a 550d to a markiii. It is a big jump. Glad to hear that it has good reviews from eveyone.

Hi Erin,

I absolutely love these posts and all of your photography blog posts as well. As a newbie photographer (about one year), your work is such an inspiration—crisp, clean, and colorful! That is exactly the style I try to achieve with my own photos although they are definitely a work in progress. You can check out my work at stephanieconnorphotography.com and my fb link is on there too since I have been horrible about blogging recently. One question: I currently shoot with a 7d and am considering the mark ii since I am ready for an upgrade and cannot afford the mark iii. Can you elaborate on the “focusing issues” you mentioned with the mark ii? Focusing issues are the main reason I want to get rid of the 7d! Thank you and can’t wait to see photos of your own beautiful family!!!

We are also attempting holiday photos this weekend. Fingers crossed!

BTW, where’d your card templates go? Etsy?

Colleen D.November 28, 2012 - 9:39 am

I love Sarah Jane Studios, she’s recently started doing custom orders of family portraits. I think they’re just gorgeous.

And… those just sold out for the year! She just posted it yesterday. Still, she has some beautiful work in her etsy shop.

Welcome back! Am watching several 5Ds right now, so would be interested in yours as a back up- especially with that few actuations. 🙂 Enjoy your holidays and relax!

DebbiNovember 28, 2012 - 2:28 pm

I might be interested in the camera…how much were you thinking of asking?

PS — Love ToT!

Stephanie @ La Dolce VitaNovember 28, 2012 - 2:29 pm

Glad to see ToT back too! Everyone I know who got the 5D3 loves it. It’s on my list, for sure.

I know it might sound weird, but I have pictures of the UA campus in my bedroom. (I know, you’re a Barner.) My husband has a collage of buildings/areas that were important to him while in school. The collage over my nightstand has buildings/areas that were important to me. It’s a little weird for a bedroom, but I like it. The collage is old school, so maybe it could be updated with digital pictures and canvas. Since you guys were military, maybe you could have a collage of places/cities that you love?

I have been so behind on my google reader, and came across this TOT post, and I feel like its destinity! (But dramatic, huh? :)). I’ve been dying to get a 5d used, and how amazing to have the famous Erin Cobb’s 5d? He, he! In all seriousness, I’m taking Karen’s class in January (found her through you!) and would love to have a full frame camera to start off the class! pkease give us more details when/if you decide to sell!

On a side note, live Katie daisy’s work – you might already have heard if her – but live how her 8x10s look beautiful accenting furniture! :). And I think with plantation shutters in the room they would look awesome!

Lorena MoraNovember 29, 2012 - 10:56 am

Erin you’re back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’ve missed the TOT. But you being gone means you are spending quality time with your family and that’s what’s important.

Now on to your 5D, if you sell it please please please keep me in mind. I think I had mentioned to you before I’ve been wanting the 5D, thanks.

Hope your holidays are wonderful!

KellyNovember 29, 2012 - 6:32 pm

I can’t wait for you to come to ATL for the conference in January to catch up. I am also looking forward to a little break focusing on the holidays & family. I think that conference will be a good creative start to 2013. Might send you an email on the 5D…
