Go, B-Ro, Go.

I’m not sure how we’re here already, but we are.

Our baby boy is learning to read. And much like his sister before him, he’s a sponge.

I came home from a session last week to this scene; Brent huddled over Ephraim who was sounding out every painstaking word of Go, Dog, Go. Um, have you read that particular treasure lately? It’s a lengthy one. But our boy was determined. So as soon as I snapped these shots I took Brent’s place while he got back to cooking dinner. And all during the (delicious) evening meal Ephraim had ants in his pants to get back to his book.

When we snuggled into his bed together that evening he finally finished what he’d started.

But like all good stories,

the end was really just the beginning.

Congratulations B-Ro…you’re unlocking a whole new world.

AND I LOVE that the book is a library book, tattered, bent corners, a little yellow… LOVED 🙂 How exciting… I am looking forward to when my Elijah sounds out words he sees, too. 🙂

Tears in my eyes here as I remember this with my girls so long ago. As a reading teacher, my heart swells to see this magic happen! Love it!!

Could you share a little bit about you helped him with reading? My daughter is a little younger than Ephraim and she is doing well with sight words, but I’m not sure where to go next since I don’t have an education background. Thanks!
