Well we did.

It happened to be on my birthday although I was sure to let all the guests know that it was most certainly not a birthday party.

My friends don’t listen very well.
Mr. Billy snuck over and created that little piece of handiwork while we were at the pool. Then he manned the DJ table.

All of my local readers probably already know this but Mr. Billy was the voice of radio in Huntsville in the 80′s and 90′s. Yup, Kris Kelly is my neighbor. It comes in handy on nights like this. =)
All the usual suspects were in attendance, as well as a few newbies.

Perhaps most notably in the “new to a Cobb party” category would be Baby Jude, who was the only child allowed to attend, under the strict direction that he stay swaddled and pacified all night.

Although there were several other new faces who I may/may not have scared away by my near constant insistence come nightfall that “everybody is about to start dancing!!!”.

About 2 hours later my dream came true and everybody a handful of people did start dancing. Most notably (and in this order):
- Arlana – to an impressively choreographed solo Michael Jackson number. I’m still in awe.
- Steven – in my bathroom, technically. His shadow dance behind our woven shade which included both my curling iron and Brent’s Neti pot was epic.
and my favorite dance of the night…

- Mr. Joel and Miss Dawn. While that image was taken in near pitch black at ISO bazillion, it just might be one of my favorite shots in recent history. Our street has been living for this moment – a healthy Joel, dancing with his hot wife. What a difference a year makes. Praise God.
So Happy non-Birthday to me.

I got to be surrounded by some of the people I hold most dear (and adorned by their gifts…scarf/earrings from Billy and Donna…skirt from Heather).
What a lucky girl I am.
