Savings thousands of dollars in painting labor isn’t the only thing my neighbors are good for. They’re also pretty good for a few hours of fun on a Sunday afternoon.
A couple of weeks ago George and Trina invited the crew over for dinner in their awesome backyard. I decided to leave my camera at home and enjoy being in the moment. I immediately regretted that decision as soon as the kiddos started playing t-ball. After seeing Dawn hop on Brian’s (big and tall) bicycle and ride home to grab some juice boxes for the kids, I decided to follow suit. So I jumped on Brian’s (big and tall) bicycle to pedal home and fetch my camera.
I have on word to say about that experience: ouch.
But it was worth it. Because I got these.
First, “baby Wesley” (who is two and a half and very much not a baby anymore) up to bat…
His swing was a bit ambitious.
But he made his mama proud.
Next up was Luke – “B(r)ubbers” – with a pretty mean swing…
Followed by Ephraim – “B-Ro” – with a pretty mean look…
and finally Pi’bears…
who got so frustrated with her inability to hit the ball that she knocked herself in the head,
and onto her booty.
And ended up needing a serious pep talk from her Daddy.
I’m still not sure she ever hit the thing but she looked mighty cute trying.
Speaking of mighty cute, our little crew has expanded to include two new adorable faces recently.
I take that back, it’s grown to include THREE new adorable faces recently…
With one on the way for Miss Lacy, who borrowed baby Jude’s fan for a spell to cool her pregnant self off…
These two girls are especially excited about Miss Lacy’s November baby
because rumor has it this boy heavy crew
is finally about to add A GIRL!!!
And praise the Lord for that because I don’t think we can take much more of this sort of behavior…
And I’m not sure what’s going on in this next picture but I’m sure it belongs in the same category…
While those fools were strutting their stuff, their wiser counterparts were taking a load off.
Poor Mr. Billy was injured after DJ’ing a certain someone’s 32′s birthday backyard bash, resulting in a cracked shoulder bone.
Whoever that was should really get her parties under control.
As the afternoon turned to evening we decided that a game of Duck, Duck, Goose was in order. I wanted to join in on the fun so Brent manned the camera.
And I kind of adore how blurry they are.
It properly conveys just how fast I was chasing Ephraim around that little circle.
(Does anyone else see Sarah and Luke about to kiss in that last shot???)
Speaking of kissing, this is how our polite little child’s game ended…
These people should really get their parties under control.
We ended the evening catching fireflies,
weaving grass crowns,
and doing cartwheels.
And then this happened…
and just before packing up to head home, I said another silent prayer of thanks for that baby girl we’re adding to the mix.
We’re gonna need her.
