before I forget…

Sarah came home the week of St. Patrick’s Day absolutely enamored with the idea of trapping a leprechaun. After finishing her work at school one day she flipped through a book about children who tried to catch a leprechaun and that was all she wrote. Pi’bears was on a mission. And when Pi’bears is on a mission there’s no diverting her attention.

Wonder where she got that.

She hatched a careful plan and got right to work. In the end, we had this…

She fashioned a cozy bed for her new friend in a leprechaun sized box (the washcloth was for comfort) and then she created a wobbly set of “stairs” out of a pair of dice. The idea was that the leprechaun would venture up the stairs, wobble, then lose their balance into the Pringles cups waiting below.

Pretty brilliant plan if I do say so myself.

And while the leprechaun wasn’t willing to stay for the night and lead her to the gold, he did throw our girl a bone. In the form of a rainbow of Skittles.

To say she was absolutely elated was an understatement. And like any smart, persistent, candy-loving girl would, she decided to try again.

This time she went with a set up by the front door. And our leprechaun friend was less than impressed.

And like any timid, people-pleasing, rule-following girl would be, she was terrified. Methinks being chastised by a leprechaun wasn’t on our girl’s bucket list.

And that was the definitive end of the leprechaun hunting.

I might dress up like a leprechaun and sneak in to steal that table. That is all.
