surprise!

Last week Heather’s family was hit with a stomach bug and, speaking from experience, that’s no fun with a newborn in the house. So our family was fortunate enough to be on the receiving end of some extended play time with baby Jude! He came over Tuesday morning before the kids were even awake. One at a time they each burst into our bedroom as usual but I quickly hushed them and pointed around to the side of my bed. I wish I could have recorded the look of glee on each of their faces as they walked around and found sweet baby Jude asleep in his bucket!

Ephraim has always been a fan of babies. From the time he was a toddler he’s taken a special interest if ever there was a baby in the room. And now that Jude is so accessible his baby fever has stepped up even more.

Although I’m pretty confident that our B-Ro has no interest in sharing his status as the family baby, so he’s happy to just borrow the neighbor’s every now and then.

But someone better tell my ovaries to simmer down. Because, Lord, this next picture tests the resolve of my two child policy.

Sarah is also a baby lover and I’m thrilled that she’s such a natural at it. I figure I’m going to need an assistant for newborn sessions one of these years when my back gives out. It’ll be nice to keep it in the family.

We were sad when we finally had to send Jude back across the street. But I’m pretty convinced that having a newborn a stone’s throw away is just about the perfect distance. It’s close enough that you can hold them whenever you want, but not so close that you can hear them cry at 1 a.m. =)

I love these! Especially the one of the kiddos on the floor. I remember when E was tiny and S was doting on him lying on the floor!

if there is ONE thing I’ve learned from working in corporate America, it is that policies require frequent updating!
and yes, that picture of B-Ro and Jude would pretty much force immediate updating!

From the looks of those pictures, I’m pretty sure if you broke the 2 baby rule, you wouldn’t have to lift a finger after birthing it! I don’t think I’ve ever seen two kids so enthralled – and so natural – with a baby. Sarah looks like she does that every day. (Love the “head cock” she has going.) She looks like she’s ready to start babysitting! 🙂
