Tickle The Imaginary Dog.

I don’t know if it’s just the age or the gene pool of two highly competitive parents, but Sarah has been inordinately interested in contests lately. She recently requested a particular kind of cereal because the box promised “you could be a winner!”, she entered nearly every drawing at this weekend’s children’s museum open house, and the minute she heard on TV about the PBS kids writer’s contest, she raced into the kitchen to recite the web address to me.

Five hours later, her entry was complete. She claims she “can’t imagine not winning,” which just may a recipe for disappointment. Then again, she’s been known to win a little ol’ contest before. Maybe that Pi’bears is onto something.

But winner or not, I do think she wrote a pretty nifty book. Since we had to mail it in and may never see it again, I thought I’d post it here. So without further adieu I give you the story of Tickle The Imaginary Dog.

Oh that Tickle.

Wow! Seriously, I think Sarah is gifted (and I’m not just saying that because she is my niece). I can’t wait to read it to Lily and Nate. In fact, the imaginary kind of dogs are Nate’s favorite. She definitely has the talent and the lucky genes, so enter all the contests you can 🙂

That is a perfect story! I love the surprise ending! I think the details in the pictures that are used to tell the story are great too! I love emergent writing. And big kid writing. And teenage writing. And grown up writing, I guess, but it is just so thrilling to see kids excited about writing.

Mady always comes yelling out web addresses as well, it’s so funny. But that is one good story Sarah and I can’t imagine her not winning. That would be awesome if she did, you have one competitive one there, remember she also won her first race.
