ten on tuesday.

1. So much to share today. I love Tuesdays like this!

2. Today Brent and I met for lunch with our landscape architect friend Chad Bostick who has been working on a design for the grounds of the Cottage. It’s amazing! I’m planning to do a blog post on the business blog soon but in the meantime, if any Huntsville locals are looking for a great landscape plan, Chad is your man. I am SO excited about what he has in store for the Cottage!

3. As I mentioned last week, I’ve been rather obsessed lately with shopgoodwill.com, mainly looking for things for the Cottage. I was thrilled when I stumbled across a vintage scale for a steal of a price. I already have two antique baby scales and I’ve been looking for a third to round out my collection. Imagine my surprise when I opened the teeny tiny box to find a teeny tiny vintage postal scale inside. Seriously, it’s like 4 inches tall. I laughed so hard I cried. On the positive side, I can now weigh my letters accurately to the (vintage) ounce.

4. I head out on Thursday for a long weekend with my girlfriends (Amy and Samantha) in Beverly Hills. I am beside myself with excitement! I have two sessions on Saturday morning that I’m really looking forward to, and then we’ll have the long weekend to play in the ol’ 90210!

5. While in Beverly Hills we’ll be eating ourselves silly. I know we have dinner one evening already planned for Chaya Brasserie. Are there any other must-go places that I need to know about? (food or otherwise)

6. My sister made cake pops for Valentine’s Day. I hardly know who she is anymore. I tried to make those suckers once and I nearly lost my mind.

7. My sweet friend and colleague Melissa Tash is planning her second annual portrait day for kids with Autism Spectrum Disorder. She’s hoping the idea will catch on with photographers across the country…and I totally think it should! It’s a fabulous way to love on the kids and families who live with ASD everyday. If you’re a photographer and are interested in joining Melissa on this fun adventure, check out her blog to learn more about how she does it!

8. Wanna hear a funny Ephraim story? He’s a bit of a vulture these days and is pretty brazen about asking for snacks as soon as he walks in the door of a friend’s house. It drives this mama crazy. Last week I was about to walk him into Heather’s house for an afternoon playdate so I gave him a little reminder about not asking for food. Sure enough, as soon as I left Heather told me he said, “My mommy said I can’t ask you for a snack.” As they went about  their playdate Ephraim overheard Heather and Jagger singing a little song from TV. He quickly picked up on the tune and decided to replace the words with his own lyrics. According to Heather, they went a little something like this…”Ephraim loves snacks…Ephraim loves snacks…and juice tooooooo…”

How’s that for subtle?

(He ended up with a cookie and a cup of juice. That Miss Heather is a softie.)

9. This afternoon we wrapped up the photo shoot for the next cover of Spark magazine, featuring the always fabulous Miss LeeLee Wiginton – co-owner of my fave lunch spot in town, Lyn’s Gracious Goodness.  LeeLee was SO fun to photograph! However, I think I should be concerned about the video footage that Anna Claire took during the session. I might have been hanging precariously off of a grand porch, anchored by one lone boot. That’s just the way I roll.

10. Wanna see our V-day card this year? (I think I love doing these cards even more than Christmas cards!)

I grew up in LA (well, Van Nuys) and was just there two weeks ago (I hadn’t been back in 20 years!). I’ve got 2 suggestions for you. They’re both all-time favorite restaurants and will NOT disappoint:

Go to Sprinkles Cupcakes and the Farmers Market at the Grove to walking around and eat.

Oh my gosh girl, I am so headed to LA on Thursday, too! How funny! Okay, the one place you MUST MUST go is The Griddle Cafe on Sunset Blvd for breakfast. Seriously the best breakfast of my life. Get the Recess Time Pancakes and Mama’s French Toast. Yes get both. Or make someone order the other one and share it with you. 😀 It’s life changing. You’ll thank me later. Have so much fun! xoxo

Oh, the Snickers Cake from Joan’s on Third is pretty life altering as well. 😀 Cute place for lunch, too.

I hopped right over to Melissa’s Blog – what an amazing idea! Thanks for linking! My son has ASD and sure enough, we never have family portraits as its just too stressful. I would LOVE someone to do this in the UK, I think it’s awesome!

Tito’s Tacos is not far from where Amy lives, Erin. It’s amazing! Just keep in mind that it’s cash only. Not far from Tito’s is Hot Cakes. They were on the Food Network http://www.hotcakesbakes.com/ and I know you like sweets. 😉

I shared a couple of parks with Amy that are fun to shoot in. I hope you are going to one of them. 🙂 Have a great time while you’re in town!
