ten on tuesday.

1. Brent and I participated in and helped lead our church’s Advent retreat this weekend. It was an experience in silence and solitude which included 12 hours of quiet. Heaven on earth, right?!

2. I opened the retreat with this quick video which was shared with me by one of our church members before the retreat. It does a pretty fun job of explaining what this whole Advent season is really about…

3. And even though I know in my heart this season isn’t really about shopping, wrapping, baking, buying, and scurrying, somehow that still seems to be all I’m doing these days. One of these years I’m going to get this thing called life down pat. I swear it.

4. Our Christmas cards are enveloped and ready to go, minus the addresses. I decided to skip wrestling with labels this year and hand address them instead. Somewhere around 78 I changed my mind and started hating the me who thought addressing was going to be fun.

5. The kids and I got flu shots this morning and for the first time ever neither of the kiddos cried about their shots. It was incredibly lovely!

6. Today I shot the image for the next edition of Spark magazine and it was so fun! I don’t want to ruin any surprises but one of Huntsville’s cutest couples will be smiling back at you from the cover around January 20th.

7. I’m on a total Brett Dennen kick lately and his Pandora station has been going pretty much every minute I’m sitting at my desk. His music just makes me happy.

8. I stopped in Loletta’s today to pick out a gift for someone super special. Loletta’s is one of my favorite shops in Huntsville and lucky for you, you can shop it online too!

9. With that purchase I think I’m now down to only a small handful of gifts left to purchase. But please remind me that I also need wrapping paper, gift tags, and about 12 hours to put together everything I have. Thanks.

10. Also remind me to watch #2.

Love Brett Dennen! He’s one of my favorite little discoveries from my Jack Johnson Pandora station. I’ve done 3 hour long runs to his CD and there’s just no way to feel bad when listening to him (even at mile 20!) 😉

Don’t you wish those 12 hours to complete everything were all in a row? Oh man what I would give this year to have like two days in a row to call my own so I could get everything done EARLY and actually enjoy the rest of this amazing month!

i decided this year to be all crafty (which i am not) and wrap all of our presents in brown paper then decorate with custom shipping tags and scrapbook paper. this may not happen…. anyway, your #9 reminded me of that. i need boxes though. i hate the scurrying of this time of year. makes me feel like a crazy person. 12 hours of silence? i couldn’t do it.

i bought the envelope app for my ipad, loaded in the envelopes, and then all i had to do was look up the address in my contacts and hit print. 135 envelopes, 15 minutes. And they looked really good!
