so much.

Last year I wasn’t quite feeling like myself on the day of Ephraim’s birthday party. I wanted a do-over and that’s exactly what I got! Ephraim has been asking for a “Pump-A-Dump” party for almost an entire year now. And just like last year, he wanted it to be Spiderman themed. Since this wannabe Super Mommy was down and out last year I knew I had to bring my A game this year.

Let it be known that my “A game” includes a fleeting moment of panic  where I mentally flog myself for overestimating my skills in all areas, including cake decorating. But follow that with the discovery that all sins can be covered with sprinkles and it turns out all good. My self esteem is relatively unscathed, lest you were worried.

Ephraim had a ball playing with all his favorite friends from school and the neighborhood.

And while he loved the inflatables, his real joy came from the air hockey table.

We’ve long had a saying about Ephraim in our family that goes, “so much angst in such a little body…”

As his air hockey escapades well prove.

When we headed to the party room to cut the cake and sing to our boy, he was all smiles.

But I couldn’t figure out why the smiles stopped the minute his piece of cake was served. I was afraid we might have a repeat of Sarah’s birthday party on our hands.

But as it turns out, he was really just zoning in on the most important matter at hand to his four year old heart…

the big chair.

As soon as I asked if he wanted to open his presents he scrambled right up and started ripping the packages to smithereens.

So much angst in such a little body.
But so much sweetness too.

You always make cute cakes! I still remember one of Sarah’s, with a barbie doll! And that present Ephraim is opening is the one AC gave him…I am a horrible wrapper…it LOOKED like non-gender-specific paper until just now. I am glad the contents of the present were 100% boy. LOL! Glad E had a fun party at Pump-a-dump!
