ten on tuesday.

1. 10:00 on Tuesday went off without a hitch this morning and “The Cottage” is officially ours. I’ll share pics on the business blog Monday. Thanks so much for your excitement!

2. Yesterday I was notified that my personal information (to include my social security number and other relevant details) was stolen when they were in the care of TriCare – the insurance agency that cares for military families. So not awesome. The good news is that they offered me a year of free-credit monitoring to ensure that any fraudulent activity in my name was spotted right away. All I had to do was fill out one quick form which began with the question, “what is your social security number?”

Gee, one would think if you’d lost it the first time I’d be hesitant to give it you again.

3. I’ve decided December is going to be my trial month for Cozi. As much as I love a paper calendar I think 2012 may be the year when I’ll finally make the switch. Heather will be taking over some of my scheduling next year and I think she’s already getting tired of calling/emailing/stalking me daily to see what I’m doing and when. Same story for my husband. I’m hoping this will be the solution. I have a feeling I’ll still be using their print feature though, to actually get a weekly schedule on my desk.

4. Did you know that if you scrape a message lightly onto the peel of a banana with a toothpick you’ll be able to see it within seconds? I use this in the kids’ lunches all the time but a couple of weeks ago I thought I’d pass the fun along to our church youth when I cooked dinner for them…

5. Any guesses what the other side of that knock knock joke says?

6. We have several Flor rugs in our house, which are  basically modular rugs comprised of several different squares. It makes it fun to design your own pattern and, in theory, it’s supposed to be easy to clean or remove just a single section if you have a spill. For the last four years the section under our dining room table where the kiddos eat has been a disaster. I purposely put a patterned section of rug there, hoping it would hide their spills and stains. But this week when Ephraim spilled his birthday dinner chocolate milk all over the table and floor it was the straw that broke the camel’s back. I took the piece out and scrubbed it to high heaven. And somehow, replacing that now gleaming piece of carpet made me finally realize that our baby days are over. The fact that I would even think about cleaning that spot, in hopes that it might stay that way, means that my babies are officially “kids”. Cue the tears. And the cheers.

7. We’re drowning in winter squash from Grow Alabama. Anyone have any great ideas?

8. If you’re looking for a way to work cranberry into your Thankgiving meal, give this easy-peasy Cranberry Apple Relish recipe a try. It’s been a staple on our holiday table for 10 years and counting.

9. And if you’re cooking a turkey, I think this one is quite delicious: Apple Cider Brined Turkey (although I always skip the giblet gravy).

10. But if you ask me, the hands-down best want to enjoy Thankgiving dinner is at mom’s house. And that’s just what I plan to do. Happy holiday friends!

Love the idea about the banana’s. I’m definitely going to have to try this one at home. I’ve been intrigued with FLOR ever since Genevive used it on Trading Spaces…one of these days I’m going to give in. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!! Tell your mom I said hello! 🙂

We were informed that Jamie and Jeremiah also had stolen identities. Hopefully they figure it out soon!

I’m going to have to try that banana message thing. The kids would love that!

Our Tricare info was stolen too. First it was just two of my three children but today my husband and I got the letters. I asked my other military friends on FB and at least a dozen friends said the same thing happened to them. BOOOO. Coincidentally everyone I know who this happened to lived at WPAFB at one point in time. Happy Thanksgiving to your beautiful family!

I’m cracking up! We got the same letter from Tricare – as if I was going to put the SS # down again!

Squash stuff: We make a dish with kielbasa, squash & any other veggie on hand(red potatoes, onions, broccli, etc). Cover & bake for an hour until everything is soft and yummy. The kielbasa adds a yummy flavor to everything. So GOOD. 🙂

Can’t wait to see The Cottage!!

Happy Thanksgiving from our fam to yours!

Ha, I enjoy Thanksgiving at my Grandma’s, so I agree! All I’m responsible for is the green bean casserole. 🙂 And I love that banana tip, so fun!
