ten on tuesday.

1. Thanks for your kind thoughts regarding our zoning board issue. We met with the board tonight to appeal for a variance on a property we wish to purchase for our business. The board could not reach a decision and the issue has been tabled for 30 days. So life goes on.

2. In better news, my brand spanking new, pimped out iMac should arrive tomorrow. That purchase puts the final nail in the PC coffin for our family. We’re all Apple, all the time from here on out.

3. I’ve given in to the Words With Friends craze. Do you play? I don’t have a lot of time to devote to it so if you start a game with me be prepared to wait several days for me to play “to”, or some similarly aggressive word. It’s fun though!

4. Speaking of Scrabble, did you hear about the controversy surrounding the letter “G” in the recent Scrabble World Championships? A strip search was demanded. Awesome.

5. I learned about the missing letter “G” on PBS’s Writer’s Almanac. I’ve recently become addicted to the little three minute clip at 9 am every morning. Ephraim’s preschool teachers probably think I’m punctual for punctuality’s sake but really I’m just racing back to the car to get my Garrison Keillor fix. And I’m afraid that, my friends, has put the final nail in the coffin of my cool.

6. If you do nothing else today, read this article on The Creative Mama. Are your dressers and shelves secured to the wall? I can think of at least one of ours that needs some work. Sounds like something new for the to do list.

7. About three weeks ago I was feeling particularly neurotic and overwhelmed. Brent, wanting to take something off of my plate, decided to order the kiddos’ Halloween costumes without so much as a word of it to me. Several days later when various pieces of Batman and Wonderwoman started appearing in the mail, I think I fell in love with him all over again.

8. My sister has a pretty awesome new website. Check it out at StyleByMeg.com. I love the insight it gives into her career journey and all the links to her many web presences. She’s awesome!

9. People keep asking what to get Sarah for her birthday but no one will listen to me when I answer, “tape”. But it’s true. I think she would flip out over a box full of tape. Aunt Parmy came through with a pretty awesome box of school/office supplies though. And my mom is cleaning up Sarah’s typewriter and furnishing it with a new ink ribbon for the big day. Just what every new 6 year old wants. Or, just our new 6 year old.

10. Yesterday we went to Tate Farm with our friends the Bakers for the fifth October in a row here in Huntsville. Hard to believe we’ve been here that long. Guess we’re finally home. =)

You will never regret being all Mac. We have been since 2006 and it is the best ever. Buy an external hard drive (I partition it with 2 partitions in GUID format: 1 for TimeMachine and the other 2 for SuperDuper) and purchase SuperDuper for $28 use it for cloned backups. TimeMachine will give you incremental backups. If you are really paranoid also use offsite such as CrashPlan or Jungle Disk and you will never have to worry about a computer crash again. Backups are SO much easier on a Mac.

Would you be willing to share the details of your IMac purchase? I am researching switching from PC to Mac and love to hear the configuration people land on for memory, screen, etc!
Thanks!

When Sara was that age is loved bandaids – so my wonderful relatives from out west sent her a package with about 6 boxes of various character bandaids – wish it was that easy to please her now!

#2 above = Best decision you’ll ever make. I was once in your shoes–in the Fall of 2009–when my stupid PC crashed and took my external harddrive with it. Only I DID lose a couple years of my babies’ personal photos and a couple client sessions that weren’t backed up additionally. I grieved that loss for a very long time and still feel it. I made the switch to Mac and have had ZERO problems. As soon as I got my Mac, I couldn’t believe I had put up with that pathetic dinosaur PC and all it’s issues for so long. If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times, “I’m Apple to the core!!” You’re going to fall in love with your Mac, I guarantee it!! Oh, and, I hope you ordered the Magic mouse. The ol’ “Mighty Mouse” is not so mighty.

Both Santa and the Easter Bunny always leave a fresh role of tape marked “Caroline” and I swear it’s always the favorite present. Mine, too, because then MY tape isn’t always missing. I think you are onto something, though, with a whole box worth!

Dude, the nail in your cool coffin was hammered a very long time ago.

Thank heavens for husband who are able to step up when they see us faltering. I felt much the same way watching my husband sit down at the sewing machine and whip up a scarecrow hat after I had spend too many frustrating hours looking around town for one. SWOON!

1. Will continue to pray!
2. Great blessings stem from bad mojo!
3. Look me up: beccalynn24: although you might find I’m worse on the playback than you are!
5. You’re in good company!
9. I’m a total school supplies sucker…removable post-its & tabs in cool patterns would be an awesome addition for Sarah!

Most of all: I love how I don’t feel quite so alone in the nerd/losing my mind/neurotic world!

Love the Halloween costume ideas!

I LOVE Garrison Keillor and especially The Writer’s Almanac. I even download the podcast. Plus, the favorite and most exciting gift for my kidlets to receive around here is a box of assorted duck tape. Scotch tape and masking tape are also genuinely appreciated. AND my kidlets really, really want their own typewriter.

TOO funny! My 6 year old just asked me if he can buy his own roll of packing tape next time we go to the store … and he told me he’d buy me one, too, since he had just finished off my roll! 🙂

Sarah is not alone in loving tape! Nick and Maiyah are very happy getting tape as presents or treats when mommy goes shopping. They LOVE tape!!!

Hi Erin! Not sure you remember me but we met when you were visiting your family in Cali. and I watched you work. At the time my husband was just about to leave Apple to start his own game app company. (I do miss the perks of Apple, and yes, I have an iMac and LOVE it! You won’t regret it.)

If you’re up for a quick game with friends that takes about 30 seconds each round check out Panda Picnic (It’s Free!) Yes, my hubby made it but it’s a great game for moms. It’s quick and super easy to play!!

I can’t wait to see Sarah and Ephraim in their costumes!! Wonder Woman was one of my FAVORITE shows growing up. I bet Sarah will look so cute, and E too!
