ten on tuesday.

1. Thank you guys SO much for all of your comment love on the blog in the last few days. I’m super excited to try some of the suggestions on getting Sarah to ride her bike independently. It truly does take a village, doesn’t it?!

2. Do you like the new Facebook? I’m fine with it. I tend to like change. (Weird, I know.) Apparently even bigger changes are coming soon, so brace yourselves. I actually tinkered with my settings yesterday to get the new look early. Use these directions if you want to get an early sneak peek too.

3. I like Facebook, but sometimes I think it’s killing blogs and that makes me sad. More and more it seems people are abandoning their own web logs in lieu of posting snippets and pictures on Facebook. While it IS convenient and fun, it doesn’t easily allow you to permanently archive those memories the way, say, a blog book would. I also think people are reading blogs less and less as they spend more and more time on Facebook. Or maybe we’re just reading smarter with feed readers? What do you think?

4. Last week Brent was in Dayton for his Air Force Reserve commitment. We all missed him but B-Ro seemed to feel it the most acutely this time. On Thursday when I picked him up I found out that he had announced to his class that his Daddy was gone. When his teacher asked where Daddy was he said, “on a date.” Doh. “OnaDate” isn’t quite the same as “Dayton” but I can understand the unfortunate confusion!

5. Has anyone else been following the story of swimmer Diana Nyad? I spent my weekend cheering inwardly for her as she attempted to swim from Cuba to Florida. She’s 61 years old. You’re unbelievable Diana.

6. Guess who’s going to see the Indigo Girls and Brandi Carlisle in concert in November? So.excited.

7. Has anyone noticed my tenuous attempt to get back into the POTD routine? I keep reminding myself that in the end, I won’t care about the days I missed. I’ll care about the days I documented. That helps me get back on the horse when the temptation to give up gets strong.

8. My neighbor Joel starts intense chemo on Monday to continue his fight toward beating tongue cancer. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

9. This Thursday we’re hosting a party in our backyard for all of the businesses we’ve worked with via Erin Cobb Photography’s “Mom About Town” feature. There’s nothing like inviting a slew of successful, creative, stylish women over to get you motivated to pull your house together!

10. Stay tuned tomorrow for a super fun announcement I’m sure you won’t want to miss! (Although if you come here expecting news about more Cobb babies, you’ll be sorely disappointed.)

I agree about the blogs and I think it’s sad. I try to keep my blog going but it does take more time. I’d like to feel like I could walk away from facebook at any time and my blog would still be there! I love the more personal feedback you get on a blog. And Karen may have beat you to the punch with the announcement! You go girls! You both take beautiful pictures!

I totally agree with your thoughts on blogs/facebook and it makes me sad too. Sometimes I think, why post that on your blog when you could just put it on facebook. And you know more people will comment on it if it’s on facebook than on a blog. I think only other bloggers seem to get it. I wonder what that means for the future of blogs. For now, it sort of seems like Facebook can be used as an RSS reader for non-bloggers.

And I also just changed to the timeline view and love it!

Hi Erin, my 5 year old son learned to ride his bike without training wheels in just two days. My husband took out the pedals so our son will learn how to balance the bike. When he could go on long distances with his feet up, my husband installed the pedals back and voila, he now rides his bike with no training wheels!

My three year old son is also learning to ride. We got him a Skuut. I would recommend that too.

I can’t even imagine the courage it took the teacher to ask you about Brent being “on a date”. LOL

I don’t have facebook, so I love reading blogs. I’ve tried staying away from facebook because of the complaints of it being so time consuming. Plus I’ve gone out with friends that are constantly checking it or replying or posting and having half conversations because they are instead checking facebook instead of enjoying hanging out. Very rude too. I don’t want to be one of those moms that have their kid talking to them but I’m so busy on the phone checking facebook that I keep replying just a minute or uh huh and not really listen to what they are saying. So I chose just not to get facebook just like I never got my space, but I’m sure for business it helps and so I definitely don’t hate on those that have it, just not for me personally.

I am a big time blog reader. If blogs ever go away, what will I read? FB is okay….but it so does not even come close to taking the place of a blog. I am not crazy about the possibility of weeding through all those status updates about what someone ate for lunch, or where they were at 4:37pm. And the photo quality of most of the pictures posted…YUCK. I would gladly leave FB in the dust if I had to choose between one or the other. Keep on posting, and I’ll keep on reading!

So glad to see you are back on the POTD bandwagon. I’m looking to make it to the end of the year and I needed some inspiration. Love your images and processing. But more I love that you don’t make it too over the top. 1 image and a few sentences a day. Simple, elegant and beautiful. Any chance we could use your logo (oneframeaday snapshots of our life in 2011)? Personal use only of course!

I sure hope people don’t stop blogging! I know I don’t have many readers since I made my blog private, but I love knowing that I am documenting our days. I love Facebook but it has downsides as well. Your blog is one of the first blogs I was introduced to almost 4 years ago, and I have been reading it ever since! I have made blog books through Blurb and I love them. I hope that I have many more years of blogging ahead of me! 🙂

Erin, I can’t tell you how much I enjoy reading your blog! The insights you share and stories you tell about you, your family, and your neighbors (of which one family is very close to me) bring me to tears many times. I get to catch glimpses of those I love through you. And thank you for being much more than neighbor to all – they love you, and you love them, and that is family. I am praying for Joel, Dawn, and their children as he begins this intense treatment and I know all of you will be there for whatever they need! Keep sharing, so I can keep reading! I can’t wait to get Delaney to you to photograph. I know it will be amazing and thank you so much!
