ten on tuesday.

1. Last night I was pulling together some images for a blog post I’ll be featured in soon (will share when it’s up) and I realized how many fewer of my own pictures I take these days than I did in 2008 and 2009. It made me really, really sad. I’ve got to fix that.

2. Today I packed up my camera and all three of my lenses and sent them in for cleaning and repair. I have a 13 day break from shooting and since I don’t know when that will happen again I figured now was the time to get it done. I guess I won’t be making good on fixing my personal photo problem in the next couple of weeks.

3. Some of you asked a few questions in last week’s post about using/washing cloth napkins. Specifically if they smell or get mildewy. We live in Alabama which is one of the most humid places in the country but we still don’t really have that problem. I keep the dirty towels in a wicker basket with large holes in it – that might help keep the air circulating. When the basket is full, the towel supply is waning, or I do start to smell something I know it’s time to wash. We definitely have children who toss their barely used napkins into the dirty basket but we have a lot of napkins so it’s not a huge deal.

4. Are you watching American Idol this season? We haven’t gotten super loyal yet but we plan to. Paul McDonald is originally from Huntsville and he officially stole my heart when I heard his song “Dancing with the Angels” on YouTube. It reminds me so completely of the loss of our young neighbor, Andy:

5. Speaking of Andy, his parents are both celebrating birthdays this week. Hold them in prayer if you will.

6. In case you ever wondered if I’m really the stellar, pulled-together mom I appear to be on this blog (HA! HA! HA!) this should lay it all to rest. Last month I realized Ephraim was growing out of his tennis shoes so I took him to the mall. We walked out that day with a brand new pair of grey shoes that he swears make him run faster. It took me until today to realize that the shoes I bought him were actually a size SMALLER than the ones he had grown out of. I rock so hard at this mom thing.

7. Someone I love is celebrating her birthday this week. It breaks my heart to not  be celebrating with her in person but…she’s coming to visit! Three weeks, two days and counting down the hours.

8. For the record, I’m NOT watching The Bachelor (would never do such a thing) but I’m putting my money on Chantal O. Not that I know anything about any of that silliness…

9. My daughter is now the proud owner of her first recycled dress. I am so, so in love with it. B-Ro is pretty obsessed with his recycled cobra shirt as well.

10. My friend Jenny who has been so faithful in her service to God’s people in Haiti recently linked me up with The Apparent Project. The Project works to give Haitian people artisan work that enables them to support their families and keep their children, rather than give them up to orphanages when they can no longer feed or care for them. One of their programs is jewelry making and people here in the United States (like us!) can host home parties to share their beautiful jewelry with our friends. I love the idea! I’m thinking I need to round up some friends and start sporting some Haitian beads. Maybe you can too!

I am definitely NOT watching the bachelor either, but if I was…I agree with Chantal O. and I most certainly will NOT watch him pick her on monday’s finale and be the least bit excited.

My life is not so dull that I’ve been looking forward to your ten on tuesday, all day….nope…and I most definitely did not give my computer one last look before crawling to bed to see if it was up……
Thanks for rockin’ the Tuesday, Erin 🙂

I must say I am going to have to go with Emily. I will be watching the last 20 min.(lol) just to see.

You said you sent your camera and lenses in to be cleaned…where do you do that and how often do you do it?

Being a mom is hard work. There’s so much to keep track of!
I absolutely can’t wait to see pics of that dress on your daughter!

This year I’m rooting for James Durbin – he’s local (Santa Cruz) and I love rockers! When he sang Judas Priest I squealed in delight (one of my favs). Paul has the most fetching smile, and I love how Scotty has that deep voice which totally contradicts his babyface.

We also use cloth dish towels, dish rags (instead of sponges) and cloth napkins. I put them all in a laundry basket that sits on the top of my dryer and have never had issues with mildew or mold. I do wash them about twice a week because I also have cloth bibs for Anna though!

I’m curious, too, about where you send in your camera gear for cleaning?

AngelaMarch 9, 2011 - 3:56 pm

I certainly haven’t watched every single second of the Bachelor either…but my money is on Emily…has been since the beginning. Who doesn’t love/hate the girl with the body of Barbie and the heart of Mother Teresa.

Can hardly wait til Monday night!
