ten on tuesday.

1. I’ve been home from California long enough to catch a deep breath. Which means it’s time to go again. Tomorrow Brent and I head to New Orleans for a long weekend of eating with our supper club. Excited doesn’t begin to cover it.

2. On our dining list while we’re there: Commander’s Palace, Galatoires, Central Grocery (for muffalettas), Windsor Court (for high tea), Cafe Du Monde (for beignets), Rock and Bowl (not technically for food), and Brennans (for brunch). If you’re local and you think we’re missing something AMAZING, please chime in.

3. We’ll return home on Sunday, fat and broke.

4. Oh, I forgot to mention that we’re also doing a 3 hour biking tour of the city. That might curb a few calories. I think it stops off at a bar halfway though, so nevermind.

5. Last week I started training for the Country Music Half Marathon in Nashville. This training schedule focuses on improving speed. I’d really like to run closer to 2 hours than my 2:16 finish in October. I have until April 3oth so we’ll see!

6. Later this week I’ll be releasing my travel session dates and details for Monterey Bay, CA; Dayton, OH; Louisville, KY; and Isle of Palms, SC. Watch the business blog, this blog, and my client newsletter (sign up on my business blog) for details.

7. Speaking of my business blog, I’m super excited about a new series we just kicked off yesterday. If you’re local and are interested in all the fun happenings, deals, and independent shops in Huntsville, you’re going to want to be a part of that every Monday morning. I happen to have enlisted the services of one of my favorite Huntsvillians to keep us in the know. Be sure to follow her on Twitter too!

8. It’s getting to be smoothie season around here and I’m ready to kick my food processor to the curb (at least for smoothie making). The consensus on Facebook seemed to be for the Magic Bullet although there were a few very vocal, very loyal Ninja lovers in the mix. Thoughts?

9. After my post on Facebook I got a series of harassing texts from my step-brother regarding my query into the Magic Bullet. Apparently I need to consult Urban Dictionary before posting such unknowingly questionable material on Facebook. I’m still not quite sure what it means but I think I’m better off that way.

10. My sister says she’s going to start blogging regularly again. I’ll believe it when I read it. But I sure hope it’s true!

I’m jealous of all the travels! I’m meeting my BFF in Nashville to run our 3rd marathon together….can’t wait to rock that town 🙂

AmandaDFebruary 15, 2011 - 1:39 pm

Oh, and a vote for the magic bullet- both kinds!

cathyFebruary 15, 2011 - 2:27 pm

Does this mean I will have to wait at least another week for my sneak peek on this business blog? I’ll survive. Just wanted to check if I should stop stalking your site 😉

MelissaFebruary 15, 2011 - 2:38 pm

My Magic Bullet is still sitting on the counter from making smoothies with the kiddos today for lunch. My hubby gave me mine for Chirstmas and we have had smoothies almost everyday since. It is wonderfull because each person can make their own and clean up is a breeze!

I was also wondering if you can give me the link to the half marathon training schedule that you used to train with?

Thanks!

adminFebruary 15, 2011 - 2:43 pm

No way Cathy! Yours will go up this Thursday…I’ll be setting them up to post while I’m gone. I’d never leave you hanging like that! =)

SheaFebruary 15, 2011 - 2:52 pm

Way to go on training for another 1/2. Would you mind sharing what training program you’re doing? I’m training for my 2nd half marathon as well & also really want to work on my speed. Have fun in New Orleans!

heather mayberryFebruary 15, 2011 - 3:00 pm

yay for new orleans! eating is awesome, i am a fellow foodie and would travel to eat. good luck in training. i hear that the nashville race is hilly and being from there i can see how it would be. anxious to hear your dates for isle of palms, we will actually be there. just the hubby and i, after taking the kiddos to orlando in a few weeks we’ll need “us” time. happy traveling! be safe!

MelodyFebruary 15, 2011 - 3:20 pm

Well, I have used my Vita-Mix for years and years and years and if it died tomorrow, I would immediately replace it. It is very powerful and has a larger container than most blenders and the fact that you can start it on low speed and turn it up as the liquids start processing alone makes it worth the price when you’re doing hot liquids and don’t particularly like scalding hot foods clinging to your skin and causing blistering burns. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
It’s been several years since I’ve been to New Orleans, and I’d say your list is off to a good start. The only things I would add would be Mother’s Kitchen (lines are usually very long, but the food is good and (relatively) inexpensive. We ate at the chef’s tasting bar at Emeril’s and it was very expensive, but delicious. My hubby has eaten at Delmonico’s and Nola’s and he liked them both. Dooky Chase and K-Paul’s (Paul Prudhomme’s place) are a long standing restaurants as well.
It’s hard not to eat well in NOLA. 🙂
Hope you guys enjoy!

SaraFebruary 15, 2011 - 3:48 pm

HAVE FUN! My cousin (Dawn Brown) is a Meteorologist in New Orleans on WVUE (Fox 8) in the mornings. New Orleans is such a wonderful city. Beignets are a must! It sounds like you have an awesome trip planned. Can’t wait to hear all about it.

AmandaBFebruary 15, 2011 - 3:57 pm

I am so excited that next year’s Imaging USA is going to be in New Orleans! I have wanted to go there for years, and I have already told my husband that no matter what I am going to IUSA next year.

MindyFebruary 15, 2011 - 4:34 pm

MAN OH MAN!!! I wish I had known that you were coming to my town! I would have loved to get pictures taken by you! 🙂 I guess I’ll have to convince my guy to take me to your town for pictures! 🙂

TramFebruary 15, 2011 - 4:37 pm

I’m from New Orleans. You are going to love it here. The food, the people, the music… all amazing. Looks like you will be hitting up some great places to dine. Here are a few other of my favorites:
Jacques-Imo’s Cafe (cornbread you would slap you’re mama for)
Willie Mae’s Scotch House (fried chicken you would also slap your mama for)
NOLA (an Emeril Lagasse restaurant)
Red Fish Grill (fun atmosphere, fun cocktails)
Camellia Grill (for a quick bite to eat but don’t miss the pecan pie warmed on the grill topped with icecream)
I could go on forever listing wonderful places to eat. You’ll just have to come on down and be addicted to New Orleans. And if you thought it was not a good place to vacay with your kids, they will miss out on world class Audubon Zoo, Insectarium and Aquarium of Americus. Have fun! Be safe! It’s a warm, sunny,70 degrees here this week!

chesleyFebruary 15, 2011 - 4:44 pm

i really wanna train for the country music 1/2 but not sure i have it in me..or not sure my knees can handle it! good luck!! i’ve heard the magic bullet is great, but i had a friend literally grind her finger up with it..don’t do that :)!!

LisaFebruary 15, 2011 - 5:35 pm

Oh, oh, oh, you’re coming to NOLA!?!?! I may just have to stalk the Quarter . . . 🙂 Seriously, though, you have to go to Drago’s for chargrilled oysters!!!

JudyFebruary 15, 2011 - 5:44 pm

Absolutely look at a VitaMix! They are fabulous and unbelievably powerful.

CarolFebruary 15, 2011 - 6:40 pm

don’t know anything about new orleans, but have always wanted to go! lucky you!
by the way…what exactly is supper club and how do you join one of these? 🙂 i know i’ve seen it on your blog, but exactly how do you start one? 2:15 is an awesome time, but good for you to push it even further! wow!

Grama in NashvilleFebruary 15, 2011 - 7:08 pm

How do I not know about this Country Music Marathon plan? See you tomorrow!!

KyraFebruary 15, 2011 - 7:44 pm

Hooray for the Country Music Marathon! Any chance for a get together that weekend? I know of two “Erin Cobb” blog-stalkers here in Nashville who would be up for it…even if I have to crawl there seeing as how I STILL haven’t started my 1/2 marathon training yet! You will really enjoy it though–the Huntsville 1/2 was fun, great weather, etc. but the CMM has a lot more energy–tons of fans on the side cheering you on, LOTS more water & snacks throughout the race, live bands, etc. Melissa & I had a great time last year even though we crossed the finish line amid tornado sirens going off downtown!

Janelle AndersonFebruary 15, 2011 - 8:11 pm

Erin! Love the Disney photos…what a magical day! So glad you took the time to do that. Cool how the magic of Disney really comes out in the kiddos?!

So, we are SMOOTHIE peeps and we have killed blenders making them…blenders are no good. The Silver Bullet is good for awhile but you’ll get tired of cleaning it or burn out the motor if your crazy like us.

Therefore, this will blow your mind…Google “The Cuisinart Smart Stick Hand Blender” and you’ll see my MOST FAVORITE KITCHEN TOOL (besides my kitchenaid mixer) that is only about $25. It is Heaven sent! We use it on smoothies but also for a million other things in the kitchen and clean up consists of rinsing under the sink faucet after using it. It’s awesome for salsa and making baby food or any purees…oh, it’s truly wonderful. 🙂 I promise this won’t disappoint!

Janelle AndersonFebruary 15, 2011 - 8:14 pm

Oops, I would also like to put in a little request for some love while you are in Dayton this May. My boys need their yearly Erin Cobb camera love. This will be the last of the Dayton shoots. We’ll just have to come to Huntsville in the years to follow. Oh, there maybe birthday treats for someone…good measure. 🙂

AnneFebruary 15, 2011 - 8:41 pm

I love my Magic Bullet. I purchased it before jaw surgery and it got a big workout for a couple of months. It is still going strong.

I agree with the Camilla Grille being good diner food. But be really hungry when you go. The portions are huge and the waiters are great. *bonus* you can ride the St. Charles streetcar line all the way to the end and then walk the block or two to the resturant. I gave Christi information on a restuarant in the quarter that we really liked back over fall break.

I hope you have a great time in NOLA – how could you not?!

StephanieFebruary 16, 2011 - 7:17 am

I vote for the Magic Bullet (the blender kind, lol). I use mine to make smoothies and protein shakes every.single.day. It is about….6 years old and still works like a champ. I also used it to make baby food for my now 2-year old, and will be embarking on that adventure in a couple months when this bun is done. 🙂

AshleyFebruary 16, 2011 - 7:52 am

Hi Erin! I’d love a full restaurant report after New Orleans! Hubby and I are planning our first trip there in June.
ps- I totally vote for a stick blender. I’ve mine for 8 years and I don’t use any other type of blender or food processor. It’s perfect for pureed soups too.

julipFebruary 16, 2011 - 12:35 pm

not a fan of the magic bullet….ours crapped out after a few weeks of summer smoothies last year.
we went back to using the Cuisinart SmartPower Duet (it’s a blender and mini food processor). It is awesome for frozen strawberries and bananas in smoothies.
and it has been through several Jimmy Buffett margarita parties at our house!

PattyFebruary 16, 2011 - 1:05 pm

We love our VitaMix. I seriously couldn’t believe we were spending that kind of money on a blender, but it absolutely rocks!! No more annoying big clumps of ice – everything comes out perfectly. We use it for smoothies, soup, and best ever homemade peanutbutter. Love it!

Can’t wait to see more details on the Dayton visit

PattyFebruary 16, 2011 - 1:06 pm

Oh – – and I also wanted to mention that you’ve inspired our group of friends to start our own supper club! We’re having our first get together next Saturday. Can’t wait!!!

DanaLFebruary 16, 2011 - 2:14 pm

Ditto on the chargrilled oysters from Dragos. and you must tour the Garden District! I am hour away if you need anything :0)).

KelliFebruary 16, 2011 - 3:39 pm

We spent a bunch of money on the Margarita-ville blender/drink concoctor machine (it has some fancy name and that is not it). It’s the best! It has a built in ice shaver and makes the most perfect slushie drinks.

Mollie McCormickFebruary 16, 2011 - 5:13 pm

A must everytime I go to New Orleans is hearing Jeremy Davenport in the Ritz Carlton lounge. He plays every Friday and Saturday night! Think Michael Buble’ but add in a trumpet! He is fantastic! Cannot beat the Ritz atmosphere! If y’all go, definitely get the wild berry mojito! Wish I were there right now!

KristalFebruary 17, 2011 - 5:31 am

You will love it here! While you are here, you must try King Cake since it is Mardi Gras season. And make sure to ride a streetcar. So many photo opportunities. AND food opportunities! Hope you all have a blast!

Jennifer FantoniFebruary 17, 2011 - 1:08 pm

OMG–did you just say Louisville?! I live in Louisville. Can’t wait to hear the news!

I am running my first half marathon on April 30 too but it’s here in the ‘ville. Good luck to you!

AlissaFebruary 17, 2011 - 5:39 pm

Thanks for doing all the research for me! I just ordered the magic bullet myself. Kohl’s has it for $63 and I had a coupon for 30% off (FEBSAVINGS) so I got it for $44. I was in the market for a quick easy blender but I wasn’t interested in spending $400+ like all my friends seem to be doing for one of those vitamix things. Yikes!

AlissaFebruary 17, 2011 - 5:46 pm

I see someone recommended the Cuisinart Smart Stick. FYI – Kohl’s has that for $35 and you can use the same coupon for 30% off that too. 😉 I love a deal, don’t you?
What did our mother’s do before the internet when they needed to know what to buy?! Poor dears…

Brandy HarperFebruary 18, 2011 - 4:36 pm

YOUR COMING TO LOUISVILLE?! I AM SO EXCITED….SIGN US UP! My twins will be waiting for their close up…haha

colette stanleyJune 1, 2011 - 7:37 pm

reading this very late, but next time you are in new orleans, you must see trombone shorty if he’s playing (he’s been on the hbo series treme, and he ROCKS), and you must eat at bayona. i have never met anyone who hasn’t had an excellent dining experience there. susan spicer can blend flavors like no other. next time!

magnificent publish, very informative. I ponder why the other specialists of this sector don’t understand this. You must proceed your writing. I am confident, you’ve a huge readers’ base already!
