ten on tuesday.

1. Christmas was magical at our house. As Brent and I woke up Christmas morning the snow flurries were already swirling about. By the time the kiddos were finished opening presents we had a blanket of snow on the ground. It was the stuff of movies for this little Southern family who never dared hope for a white Christmas in our lifetime. We’ll surely never see one again.

2. I have many, many, many Christmas images to share…on another day. For now, just one…

Of all the things Ephraim received, that little Coke bottle ranked right up at the top.

3. Not five minutes after that shot was taken I was convinced we were headed to the emergency room since in all the Christmas morning hoopla our little guy got hold of a  peanut-laden Mr. Goodbar. But all’s well that ends well and with nary a fat lip in sight B-Ro took it in stride. We watched him like a hawk after that though. Sarah in particular. She later told her daddy that she was “very scared when Ephraim ate that peanut candy.”

4. The day after Christmas we celebrated Brent’s 35th birthday. The italics are simply celebratory. I’m not at all insinuating that 35 is old. It’s not. I promise.

5. As Sarah was laying in bed on Christmas night she called me into her room to tell me she had made up a song for her Daddy’s birthday the next day. Turns out it was a spinoff of a song for her preschool Christmas play called “Happy Birthday Baby Jesus”. Her version? Happy Birthday Baby Daddy. It begged to be a rap song.

6. Fortunately Brent had just recently downloaded the iphone app I Am T-Pain. So I now proudly present to you Sarah Cobb’s recently released single Happy Birthday Baby Daddy.

7. Are you setting any New Year’s Resolutions this year? I’d love to hear them. I need some inspiration. So far all I’ve got is to rinse my dishes better before I put them in the dishwasher. Totally lame.

8. If you’re considering a health-related goal I’d like to give another plug for the Couch to 5k program which is how I started running a couple of years ago. My mom started the program on her treadmill back in October and yesterday she ran two miles straight. She’s 57. (Once again, purely celebratory italics).

9. Okay, who’s going to the PPA Imaging Conference next month? I want to meet you if you’re there!

10. Fittingly, I’m using this week’s #10 to give a shout out to my honey who has legally put up with me for ten years come Thursday. (and yes, those italics are most definitely, strictly celebratory as well.)

Is that Mexican Coke? I was so excited to go to Earth Fare last week and see that they had real Mexican Coke made with real cane sugar!

To add to the bragging on parents…my dad started running the summer before he turned 60, and did his first 5k last November (the Turkey Trot). He beat my time by 14 minutes and my 27 year old brother only beat him by 2 minutes. And he’s never been a runner. The Couch to 5k is definitely achievable (and a great achievement!)

My honey has legally put up with me for ten years come January!
I want to start the C25K again, started it and then got sick for 3 months so ready to try again!!
Happy New Year!

Oooo, ooo, me, ME! I’m going to Imaging and I want to meet you! 😉

Love Sarah’s rap, too. Give Brent some birthday “cha cha cha’s” for us!

That song was too cute!

LOVE the song! too cute! once everything thaws out here i’m thinking i may start running again. we live in the mountains now, and i don’t think i want to start in the cold. so come spring i’ll put your plugging to good use. i love that ephraim loves coke, adeline hates the bubbles in soft drinks she says that they’re “spicy” (she’s exactly a month older than him). anyway, my husband and i “legally” hit 7 years earlier this month but i have a fantastic idea for number 10 that involves a certain photog if you’re up to it. how early do we need to book you? just shoot me an email, an we’ll talk details.

Gotta love coke, didn’t know Ephraim was allergic to peanuts though so I’m glad he’s ok. Love the song, and I will be 35 next month definitely not excited about that. My husband and I celebrated 13 yrs in August, the poor guy :-).

Lots of celebrations on your ToT today. Happy Birthday Brent. Happy Anniversary you two. Congrats to E for possibly outgrowing a peanut problem.

And yes, Christmas morning was magical. The prettiest one I ever remember.

MGFDecember 28, 2010 - 8:16 pm

the peanut thing would of made me nervous too. I don’t dare tell my kids out this coke bottle, they would love a chance at gulping down some brown soda- as we call it.
That song is too funny.

I just gave birth to my second child in November and I remembered the Couch to 5k program. I started it this week! It’s not so much a New Year’s thing for me, but more a “give me my body back!” thing. At any rate, thank you so much for posting about it!

I don’t “do” resolutions because eventually I’ll fail one of them – but I do make goals for myself that I just so happen to start right around the new year. 🙂 I’m a C25k grad, so I just downloaded the Ease into 10k app on my iPod Touch (there’s also the Bridge to 10k, which takes off where the C25k leaves off). I joined a local running club a few weeks ago, and I’m pretty excited about training up for local runs this spring!

Congrats on your anniversary!

Oh my gracious. I *LOVE* Sarah’s song! I immediately started laughing at the title, how cutesy!
I will not be attending PPA as I did not know about it. Sigh!
However, I look forward to reading the couch to 5K because I have had gastric bypass (August 2009) and my goal is to be able to run a 5k. I am still in the process of losing weight, being I became pregnant 5 months after having my surgery and my youngest daughter is now only 2 months old. However, I still managed to lose 147pounds, so I am not complaining! 🙂

I love the blog and your work!

LacyDecember 29, 2010 - 8:36 pm

At least one of my gifts was a hit! I feel terrible though. Please tell Ephraim I’m workin on an alternative peanut free gift. Graham doubted my Coke gift – but that was always my favorite gift as a kid!

AWDecember 30, 2010 - 5:12 am

First I want to say Sarah I think you’ve tapped into your calling. Great tune!
“Baby Daddy” I hope you had a great 35.
Happy Anniversary Cobbs! Has it really been ten years??
As for NY resolutions I want to be able to do 55 reps daily on my manual exercise machine.I’m currently up to 35.
I love you all! Happy New Year!!!!

BreeDecember 30, 2010 - 5:48 pm

I just spit Diet Coke all over my keyboard. Sarah’s Baby Daddy song was the highlight of my day.

Janelle AndersonJanuary 1, 2011 - 2:33 pm

Happy Birthday Brent! I’ll be a young 35 this year too! Crazy how young we look! Don’t ya think?! 🙂 Love you guys!
