ten on tuesday.

1. For the last two ToT posts I’ve been meaning to share an article that Samantha forwarded to me a couple of weeks back. Somehow it never made it out of my brain and onto the blog. Figuring it’s never too late to make good on intentions, I’m sharing it today. It’s from the blog A Little Pregnant and is titled, “Breastfeeding is awesome. There. I’ve encouraged you.” Samantha forwarded it to me with a little note that said something like, “reminds me of you.” I spent far too long carrying around angst and anxiety about the amount of time I did or didn’t, could or couldn’t, nurse my children and the feelings of failure that came with all of that. This healing little blog post might have put the final nail in the coffin where my feelings of past failure now reside. Goodbye Guilt, I don’t miss you.

2. LOVED this Grow Alabama video today. It totally makes me want to finally learn how to use the video capabilities on my 5d Mark II. Anyone know of a good tutorial or starting place?

3. Ephraim is home with me today as he is every Tuesday (and Thursday) while Sarah is in school and he’s not. One of my goals for him this year is to work on his letter and sound knowledge. Sarah knew all of her letters and sounds at this point so I figured I’d work a bit with Ephraim to see what he could do. Well, I’ll tell you what he can do as of this morning – he’s extremely proficient at feeding foam letters to dinosaurs. That’s about it.

4. I just got the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell Spouses Survey  in the mail. I’m excited about it. And I’m pretty sure that makes me weird. I do wonder though if someone is going to lose their job for asking me how I feel about Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. 😉

5. Last night as my family finished dinner there was a knock at our front door. Imagine my surprise when I saw tonight’s dinner guests standing there. I felt terrible for them, knowing how embarassed they would be when they realized they were at our house on the wrong night. That is until I realized that *I* was the one who had written the date down wrong on my calendar.  Annnnd…Best Hostess Ever Award goes tooooooo…ME!!! (They graciously agreed to come back tonight when I promised I’d be more prepared.)

6. Apparently high from my stunning success last night I completely forgot about my children’s dentist appointments this morning. This week just keeps getting better.

7. If I didn’t know better I’d blame my forgetfulness on pregnancy.

8. I’m not pregnant.

9. In better news, the workflow tutorial video is coming right along. Here’s a little sneak peek at the logo…

10. If you haven’t signed up to be notified about updates, scheduling, and specials regarding the workflow video and other mentoring opportunites, drop your email addy into the box in the sidebar. I’m planning to send out my first installment this week.

j.j.August 24, 2010 - 1:39 pm

that is EXACTLY my goal with fisher this year since he only has one day of school (with me) and alla will be gone five. that gives us four other days to play around with letters. i have a mind to search the crafty crow website for letter recognition and see what i come up with. yep, alla knew all her letters and sounds at this point too, but fisher doesn’t seem too very interested. boys, hmph.

RoianneAugust 24, 2010 - 1:41 pm

I got my survey in the mail yesterday too and mailed it today. I was SO. EXCITED. to share my opinion… and shook my head at the notion that I would a.) move off base if it were repealed or b.) stop using military services/quit going to events if it was repealed. Really??

Chi AnneAugust 24, 2010 - 6:20 pm

about the letters/sounds:

when I had Savannah my first child, she recognized all her letters, colors, numbers, shapes (and weird ones too like trapezoid she would say) and even said lots of Spanish words all by 19 months. Then Ava came along and I never really taught her because she wasn’t as interested. (Savannah would bring me a pen and paper and say “S” for me to write her letters out) But somehow Ava was reading by 4.5 years old and chapter books at 5.5 years old, so it all worked out okay!
They all learn things at their own pace, but it does even out eventually!
So tell Ephriam to feed the “A” to the dinosaur and he will probably pick up that “A” and do it!!!
GO Ephraim! He is just the cutest little boy ever!!!!!!

tara
p.s. that’s funny about your company coming over to eat!!! LOL!
