more pool faves.

Just a few more from our evening at the pool this week. We’ve been at the pool 3-4 times a week all summer long (sometimes more) and I didn’t take my camera until Wednesday night. Sometimes it’s just nice to sit back and be mom. Not “the camera.” But I did want to document the amazing time we had this summer and the progress they’ve both made in the water. So I needed a camera date. Which is why I have a bajillion pictures. I’m not even sharing half of them!

Sarah took private swim lessons for two weeks at the beginning of the summer. She wasn’t swimming at the end of the lessons but she had the knowledge and just needed some time to practice. She is a kid who does things on her own timeline. One day while we were in Gatlinburg with Brent’s parents (I still have pictures to share from that trip!) she just started swimming. She’s gotten stronger and stronger since then. We’re super proud of her and her persistence in the water!

B-Ro on the other hand is still just a wader. But that’s progress. For the first month he wouldn’t even get in. He’d just sit on the edge of the pool and dangle his little feet in. Now he’ll put his face in the water (tentatively) and walk around in the medium pool (or the “man pool” if you’re a two year old.) In the big pool he’s clearly still a clinger.

Some of you asked how I got these pool shots. Well, I wasn’t in the water. I used my 85mm/1.2 and just kneeled really, really close to the edge. It was a slow evening at the pool so I didn’t need to worry about too many rogue waves. And the 85 kept me far enough back that I wasn’t risking getting wet. The key is getting low enough to the ground/water to capture the up close and personal moments.

Disclaimer: You’re about to see more pictures than you probably ever wanted to of me in a bathing suit. (Which means, more than 1.) I handed off the camera to Brent with a few gentle instructions and I think he did a fabulous job. Having pictures of me with my kiddos is priceless to me. And seeing the looks of joy on their little wet faces (and mine) is totally the icing on the cake. Thanks babe.

Happy weekend!

Those are great. Good work by Brent (although I suspect that you had the settings all ready for him). How, how, how do you get such clear shots. I still feel that mine are just off. Did you run an action on these?

I’m so in love with all your photos!

I didn’t even know who you were until Karen posted about her time with you in Oregon. What a great time that must have been. So…I’m going to pop in now and then to beg for you not to put on the back burner the recipe for your photoshop goodness. I am in awe of how light and airy, yet totally clear and rich your photos are. There’s a quality I can’t even describe, but it’s so precious.

And so is your family.

Terrific pics. Love that you are up front and center on so many because it really adds to the family feeling of the day. So keep that hubs of yours shooting!! I’ve recently charged up the battery on my old DSLR and gave to my hubby (at his request!) and he’s having a blast. I’ve gotten into more pictures in the last couple of months that I have over the last couple of years! Great fun.
