ten on tuesday.

1. Sarah started art class yesterday. She hasn’t told me a thing about it but I’m betting the 30 minute art lesson she just gave her little girl Dordy is a pretty exact reenactment.

2. “Dordy” has been Sarah’s imaginary friend for about two years now. She usually introduces Dordy as her little girl. She knows she’s pretend (in other words, she’s not actually hanging out with a chick she thinks is real.)

3. Coincidentally Sarah’s Daddy also had imaginary friends with rather unique names – Guh, ShockBock and RoShockBock.

4. I spent yesterday mentoring Tanya Webster who might look familiar to you if you read Karen Russell’s blog. Tanya flew out from Oregon to pick my brain for the day and it was super fun! I offer hourly phone consultations as well as daily mentoring sessions although I don’t plan to schedule any more daily sessions this year. My babysitter grabbed this shot of us before Tanya headed back to her hotel last night.

(Tanya, it was awesome meeting you!)

5. Speaking of my babysitter (who is going to college in the fall…and I can’t even talk about it), I got this text from her while I was at a newborn session this morning:

Hey I’m taking the kids to publix because we forgot chocolate milk this morning.”

Yeah, my kids don’t get chocolate milk at home so “forgetting” to have it this morning makes this morning, well, like every other morning in their lives. There’s a reason they love this babysitter. (We think she’s pretty darn special too.)

6. And speaking of special, sometimes when you don’t have anything planned for dinner and you’re facing another evening of eating out or scrounging at home, you’ve got to mix it up a bit.

 7. We just got a new flat screen installed in our front living room/ordering consultation room. And all I have to say about that is HOLY TECHNOLOGY, BATMAN! This system does things I didn’t even know were possible. My laptop will connect wirelessly (ethernetly?) to my screen, my music can now be controlled with just a touch of a button on my phone, and if it struck my fancy I could literally Tweet from my television. I may never leave my house again. For that matter, I may never come out of the living room.

8. Chris L. all the way.

9. Brent is playing an itunes radio station of 90’s hits right now. I remember 90’s music being better than this.

10. I can’t complain too much about his choice of music though since at this very moment he’s underneath the dryer attempting to fix the disaster I made of it today. Yes, I broke the dryer. And yes, it’s definitely my fault. (oops.)

It’s Gu, ShockBach, and RoShockBach. Get it straight.

Aww. I like to hear that you like your babysitter. 🙂

John Michael used to have imaginary friends named Dida and Movis that lived in the linen closet.

We just got XM radio and listened to the 90’s on 9 on our drive to the beach. And this 32 year old could not agree more with your #9!

So, is RoShockBach Shockbach’s little brother?

Just a reminder that I have a very good certified babysitter very close to you. Just ask the Chapmans!

I have a WONDERFUL babysitter that graduated from Donoho a couple of years ago and is now attending UAH. She still babysits for us when we go on trips and when she comes home. Let me know if you are interested and I will pass on her info.

Come on…Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer are not all that bad… ; )

Erin,
I read your blog all the time and I think you are an amazing woman and photographer. Love your T on T columns too. Just a quick question….I’ve been really wanting to know….what happened with the mama duck and the eggs in your garden????

AngelaJuly 21, 2010 - 7:42 pm

So I’m a blog stalker, like many people, but I had to make a comment about Chris L….holy cow batman, he is my fave for SO many reasons! But the other night when they had their feet in the pool and he said “God, I love you” I nearly went crazy. I love them together. Ok…that’s enough from your blog stalker!

Toni, I would love her info if you would email it to me!

Debbie, I guess I need to do an update on the ducks, huh? We were SO bummed to find out that they hatched the day before we returned from our two weeks trip to Ohio. Our neighbor caught a picture of them on his cellphone. Apparently as soon as they were all hatched the mama lined them up and high-tailed it out of our yard! I can’t say I blame her. =)
