overload of october outtakes

October 1st. Who can believe it? Three things on my mind about this first day of October:

1) Caroline’s birthday is in five days and we won’t be there (too sad, moving on)
2) It’s Sarah’s birthday month!
3) Today starts this year’s babyGAP Casting Call. What a difference a year makes! (check out the link to see last year’s winners. I’m not crazy about the way our photo looks on there…it’s cropped and funky looking but STILL..that’s OUR BABY!)

So to celebrate the start of a fun month I put Sarah in her “birthday girl” t-shirt and worked on getting a shot for her party invitations. Let me tell you, a mini-bag of Skittles at 8:00 am sure will buy you a lot of frames! Here are some of my faves that didn’t make the invitation cut…

Brent worked hard on a video last night and the computer crashed right before he saved it. He promises to upload it tonight though so check back to see the almost two-year old in living color!

As always, the photos are great and the baby (can I call an almost 2 year old a baby?) is adorable! I have to ask a technical question…can you tell me where the light source is in the pics with the green wall in the background? Thank you!

Hey Megan…good question! These photos were taken early in the morning without a ton of light in the room and I started her out on the dresser (the shots with the wall) because there’s and window directly in front of her and then one to the right and about 3 feet in front of her. Both are small though and the light from the one on the right was partially blocked by some large bookshelves. Not ideal. I was so much happier once I moved her in front of the window from some backlighting (the one to her right in the first shots) and used the other window to illuminate her face. Hope that makes sense!

wow, if those are the pics that didn’t make the cut, I can’t wait to see the ones that made it through. She is just toooo cute.

Thank you, Erin! That made perfect sense, and I think I am going to try some backlighting of my own now! :o)

Those pigtails are TOO much! I remember doing her photo shoot for last year’s party. I wish I could have been there for today’s!

Beautiful pics and thank you Meagan for asking exactly the same question that I had in my head…and thank you Erin for answering!

Such cute pictures, Erin! Love that shirt! BabyGap I presume? 😉 I need to get my daughter one since her birthday is less than a month away!

Kristina, actually the shirt is from Gymboree. I bought it super on sale last year for like $3.00 and put it away until now. Maybe ebay has them!

and these are the ones that DIDN’T make the cut???
wow, they are so good! I wish I had a place like that to take photos of my little one. Unfortunately lighting and space in our house sucks big time! 🙁 Oh well. Congrats on your little girl’s bday month..I follow your blog (lurker mostly) and she just gets more and more and more adorable!!
