1. I received my first birthday present in the mail yesterday, from Samantha. Exactly one month until the big day. I can only surmise that this means she’ll be sending me a new gift everyday for the next 30 days to ring my 30th in with style. Right? 😉
2. For the record, it was this. I love it. Even if she did hack into my Etsy account to pillage my favorites list.
3. I stumbled across a super-helpful tool last week as I was designing a birth announcement and trying to match a font for one of my favorite, ultra-fabulous clients (can you tell she reads my blog?!): WhatTheFont.com. You just upload a small jpeg featuring the font you’re looking for and they’ll pinpoint which one it is and where to find it. Pretty cool, huh?
4. I did a bit of pro bono work this week photographing the classes at my kids’ school. Last year when I did it I completely forgot to show up and the director had to call me to ask where I was. I was mortified. This year I swore I wouldn’t forget. And yesterday, I didn’t. Today on the other hand…
5. Let’s just say that I haven’t showered today. We, um, had to leave the house in a hurry. After I ran a few miles this morning. Which = I stink. Figuratively and literally.
6. New fun mama blog: Fly Through Our Window. And she lives in Alabama! How did I not know about this? Thanks Tina for pointing me in that direction!
7. I’m having a major blog problem lately. I have too much to blog. Too many ideas, too many pictures, too many stories. Not enough time.
8. Lately Ephraim has been obsessed with bringing me flowers. Everytime he sees one he has to stop, pick it, and carry it to me saying, “a flower for youuuuuu.” I love him. One day he will make some girl very happy. And, yes, that thought makes my stomach lurch.
9. This weekend is Huntsville’s WhistleStop Festival. Between our four families of neighbors we’re fielding two teams for the Shade Tree BBQ competition. And by “we” I mean the pork-and-beer-obsessed boys. By the sound of their conversations over the last 6 months you’d think they were planning the invasion of Normandy.
10. Brent has been hard at work on our backyard this month. Thanks to some help from my stepdad and grandfather last weekend he’s got his eye on the finish line. The last step is just laying a bit of sod. But not before we haul away a good amount of dirt. Anyone need any good dirt? Free for the taking!
