As with boys and sales and friends and new opportunities, the best photographs come when you’re not looking.

This was a totally unplanned shot, taken halfway through our hike on Monte Sano Mountain yesterday. And I am in.love.

* And speaking of fabulous opportunities that come when you least expect them, tomorrow I’m heading to Oregon to hang out with Karen Russell for a few days of learning. She asked me to come out for a little bit of her own professional development although I’m sure the learning will be reciprocal. I’m excited! Will blog from my hotel. Or Karen’s house!

** Thank you all for your incredibly kind and gracious comments on Friday’s post. I was blown away by your response to my ramblings and considered never blogging again so I could stare at and enjoy your pretty words for all the rest of my days. But then of course I took this photograph and changed my mind. =)

I love this shot! I have a question, is this with your 85mm? This is on my wish list and I am almost ready to purchase it, but I wonder if it will be too far away for my 4 year old and 1 year old.

Oh my! This is so gorgeous! You need to blow it up to the largest size wall canvas you can buy and hang it someplace where everyone who walks into your house (or studio) will see it!

Often times I think what would it look like if I could freeze a moment in time. How can I perpetuate a memory, a fleeting moment in a way that will let me, at any given time, to simply relive the moment and experience it all over again.

This photo is the answer.

This is exactly the way to do that.
