a day at the museum.

After our thwarted trip to Dennis the Menace Park last week (which is closed on Tuesdays, hmph!), we headed to the Monterey Youth Museum. Although not before taking a scenic little drive through downtown Monterey that had absolutely nothing to do with my directional ineptitude of course.

The grownups were pretty disappointed to be missing the park. For Meghan and me it’s a place strongly associated with our childhood and I was sad to miss it on this trip. But once we said the words “McDonalds” and “Museum” the kiddos had forgotten a park had even existed. And as it turns out, the museum was a hit.

Sarah started by giving Aunt MayMay a little tour of the Monterey Bay…

But was quickly interrupted by an emergency situation that needed her attention…

(btw, child in the back of the ambulance = extremely unsettling for children and parents)

After that was taken care of B-Ro got wind of a fire, so we phoned in a little back up…

The back-up never came so he took matters into his own hands…

We worked up quite an appetite saving lives and such so we stopped for a quick snack at the cafe. The kiddos had to work it…

If you ask me, the food tasted a little plasticky but we made do.

After lunch we had time for a few snuggles…

One embarassing bird strike that shall never be mentioned again…

And then we loaded into the car for home, loveys in tow.

All in all (give or take the bird costumes), it was a perfect Monterey day.

I love everything about Monterey. It was one of the stops my husband and I made on our honeymoon and I cannot wait to take my girls back someday 🙂

I love the ‘little door’ the kiddos get to enter the museum through! But I have to say, the bird costumes are the very best part of this visit!! Very brave of you to wear them, get your picture taken in them, and then POST it! 🙂

Hi!Others have voiced my confusion above, but it’s pleasant sometimes to add for the melee. I have been signed up since the middle of January, but have three letters. They’re great letters! But similarly, I’d like to know if this is just the process from the dust settling or if this is to be expected? Thanks!

[…] myself with pictures (possibly topping the previous week’s photograph of me wearing a bird suit) I want to mention high school – the unfortunate fashion incubator for much of America. […]
