not walking away

Lots of people have emailed and asked if I’ll still be blogging or even if I plan to delete my blog. The answers are: “definitely” and “no way”.

I love this place. I love that I can celebrate my life and my family in this way. I love that you guys care enough to read about it. I love that I feel connected to the world in a way that I never would be if I didn’t put myself out there. I love that “Princess Pigbear” gets me out of the house on days that I never actually leave. I love that my memories are stored here. I love that on a daily basis someone comes out of the woodwork to say hi. Goodness is here, and I won’t be scared away. I hope you all feel the same way as I know some of you are contemplating whether or not to continue your own blogs.

With that said, I have some fun (although imperfect) photos to share. On Wednesday night we had a family date to the Park Meadows Mall in Denver to see the 8 foot tall Pigbear in the babyGAP window. We were greeted by her sweet face as we road down the elevator to the first floor. It was such a fun spot to see her but SO not a great spot to take a photo. Let’s just say that running up the down elevator and trying to operate a camera on manual mode at the same time is NOT EASY.

We had a little better luck inside…

I’m embarassed to say that after only three months with our appreciation card, it’s HALF GONE. It doesn’t expire until Sept. ’09 and I’m beginning to doubt that we can stretch it out that long. Especially after we take baby Lily and Aunt Parmy on a big spree this summer (get ready, Aunt P!)

I want to apologize for my lack in posting my photos-a-day. To be honest, I wasn’t sure anyone even noticed since Jennifer is usually the lone commenter. I do plan to get back to it but probably not until this move is out of the way.

Also, in an effort to protect myself a little better I’ve blocked a ton of IP addresses from Brazil. If anyone is interested in getting the list I’ve compiled and knowing how to do that then I’d be more than happy to fill you in…just email me.

Take care, friends!

P.S. What did Sarah think of seeing herself in the mall?

Tiger LilyApril 27, 2007 - 12:29 pm

Oops, I accidently deleted my 1st comment…anyway, WE can’t wait to see you guys this summer!

Susie PSUApril 27, 2007 - 12:58 pm

We were so excited to see Sarah here in the Gap! I asked what they did with the pictures when they are done with them, and if I could have that one, but they said they have to destroy them. Waste of a beautiful picture, but I totally understand!
It was neat to explain that I actually KNOW you…

Josh & KarlyApril 27, 2007 - 1:04 pm

another lurker here.. but i just had to let you know that Sarah’s adorable face is gracing the front windows at all the GAP’s in Canada too. My husband thought i was NUTS when i told him i ‘knew’ the little girl in the window! πŸ™‚

How fun is that! The pictures with the display are so cute. What did the people in the store think having a celebrity in there? I’m so glad you will still be blogging. I was so worried that you wouldn’t and I check your photo-a-day and your blog every day for my “fix”. You are truly inspiring as a photographer and a mother. Your pictures show how much Sarah is loved and how much fun she has. That is what I love about your photography, it is real life. Thank you for that. Jen.

aunt danaApril 27, 2007 - 2:13 pm

hi guys, how fun for Sarah to see herself jumbo size. Lori said she is up at the baby gap in Salinas, may go there tomorrow, will check it out and take pictures. Hope all is well with you guys. I still think Sarah needs a puppy, she is very gentle with them.

TerryApril 27, 2007 - 2:25 pm

Grandad and I went to Green Hills Mall in west Nashville and there she was — giant sized and cute as a button! We had to brag that she was our granddaughter and they are saving the entire display for us. Granddad plans to put the huge poster on the back wall of his office for a time to show all his co-workers what their many votes meant to us! Love you guys! Mom

Aunt LuApril 27, 2007 - 2:30 pm

I’m going to have to agree with Aunt Dana’s comment about Sarah needing a puppy. Everyone needs a puppy.

As for your blog, I know it’s going to take a lot more than some sicko’s to get you to take down your blog. They don’t know they’re messing with JTK’s granddaughter!

MeganApril 27, 2007 - 4:33 pm

I have to admit that I am one who doesn’t comment on your photos of the day but check it often and have missed the photos. I promise to do better when you return. Glad you aren’t going to give up the blog. Those losers shouldn’t win and would if you would stop blogging.

MarciApril 27, 2007 - 6:12 pm

I love that 1st pic. What an amazing opportunity.

I’m so glad you’ll keep posting. I think our daughters are about the same age and I also love your photography.

WendyApril 27, 2007 - 6:29 pm

Glad your here to stay!! We would miss you all too much!!

JenniferApril 27, 2007 - 8:08 pm

I’m so glad to hear you’re not giving up your blog! I never would’ve gotten a chance to “see” Sarah grow up!!

...where we lay our scene...April 28, 2007 - 2:43 am

AngelaApril 28, 2007 - 3:23 am

I admire your great attitude to whats happened just recently. How exciting it must be to see Sarah’s pictures up everywhere.

ShannonApril 28, 2007 - 6:22 am

Glad you are sticking around! I don’t know what I’d do without my Princess Pigbear blog! Which is strange because I don’t know you, but it’s exactly like what you said in your post…I feel connected to the world.

AmyApril 28, 2007 - 8:18 am

I can’t wait to go see the pigbear at the mall — kind of like going to see Santa or the Easter Bunny!

I love the POTD and look forward to checking them once you move πŸ™

And I must say, you are quite the computer nerd (which is a good thing!) between the “portal” and now your sitemeter sleuthing and IP address blocking. . . you go, girl!

JoyceApril 28, 2007 - 9:01 am

I am so proud of you for standing up and going on with your life as you wish. The world is as it is and with that we must go on…”You Go Girl!”
What proud parents of Sarah as are, all the proud friends that are in your court!!!
Just be careful with what you must do.
Love you…

ShannonApril 28, 2007 - 11:31 am

Totally bummed..went to go see Pigbear at our local gap and its closed for remodeling! Wah!

A.K.April 28, 2007 - 11:34 am

KristinApril 28, 2007 - 7:42 pm

Hi! I first “met” you on 2 peas when we all voted for Sara and I was thrilled to see that she won. I found your blog through an ILP post and have reallyhadfun getting to know the Celebrity Pigbear in Residence!

I was disgusted to learn of your stolen photo incident and equally thrilled to see you are not planning on removing the blog! Hugs to you and your beautiful little one!

ChrisApril 28, 2007 - 8:04 pm

SHe looks adorable! I have to go to the mall tomorrow and my first stop is going to be the Baby Gap so I can take a look.

Would you mind e-mailing me the list of IP addresses and a couple of instructions on how I use these to better protect myself.

I’m pretty freaked out by all this Orkut nonsense and am considering pulling my blog for fear of backlash from clients in the unhappy event of theft.

I’m glad you’ve dedided to not let this affect your blogging. I love coming here and reading about littlt Pigbear! (Where did ou get that nickname btw?)

On another note…were moving to Colorado Springs. We will be arriving just as you are leaving!

J.J. KillinsApril 29, 2007 - 11:54 am

love the pic of sarah with big sarah, LOL! oh and i miss POTD too:)

DeniseApril 29, 2007 - 12:20 pm

Looks like a fun shopping day! Sarah looks SO cute in the window! Maybe they’ll never take it down. πŸ˜‰ Okay, I don’t feel so bad. Our Gap $$ is close to 1/2 gone but I’ve got a little more than 1/2 left. I’ve been buying for the baby too and for future seasons though it’s tricky to guess their sizes next year. Pls pls send me the list of IP addresses to block though I don’t even know how to block them. Is that hard to do? Let’s catch up soon!!

carolApril 29, 2007 - 6:19 pm

I am glad that we will continue to see Sarah in your blog. It’s a way for me to keep in touch and to her her grow. I am sorry that we won’t get to see you this summer in Denver.

AveryApril 29, 2007 - 9:16 pm

Hi! Just wanted to let you know that I went to the local mall this past thursday and made sure to check out Sarah’s picture nicely displayed in the window of the Gap. She is a cutie! I can’t imagine her reaction when she saw a pic of herself in the window.

AngieApril 29, 2007 - 9:47 pm

We’re heading to the mall tomorrow and I can’t wait to see if she’s there! πŸ™‚

erinApril 30, 2007 - 6:05 am

Chris, what is your email address?

AndreaApril 30, 2007 - 9:37 am

I mostly lurk here and admire your amazing photography, but I am so glad you were able to block the IPs and get the pcitures taken down.

I am also glad you are staying around! πŸ™‚

lizMay 1, 2007 - 1:27 pm

I can just see the escalator antics now… Too funny, but worth the shot, er shoot, er photo!

I’m glad PP will stay on-line. It makes moving a little easier. =sigh= We love you!!!!!!!!!

Kristin HohenadelMay 1, 2007 - 1:58 pm
