ten on tuesday.

1. I’m so, so glad that Sunday’s little video adventure was well-received! I really love helping out when I can and it makes me so happy to hear that so many of you learned a little something (or two). Thanks for the response. It certainly makes me more likely to do something like that in the future.

2. This morning was riddled with little spats between my children and, frankly, me too. I really hate feeling like we’re all on each other’s nerves but this morning we certainly were. As Sarah says though, “we rallied” and I think we’re back into a state of peaceful chillness.

3. Just to give you an indication of our morning, this was a real argument that went on between my children on the way home from the commissary this morning:

Ephraim: More Jesus!

Sarah: No! I don’t want Jesus!

Ephraim: More Jesus! MORE!

Sarah: NO! I don’t.want.anymore.JESUS!

(repeat above cycle about 8 times)

For the record, they weren’t actually fighting over Jesus, but rather the song Jesus Loves Me. It’s  a good thing that song includes the verse “Jesus loves me when I’m good, when I do the things I should, Jesus loves me when I’m bad, though it makes him very sad.”

4. I think Ephraim’s on a Jesus kick. When he went down for his nap just a bit ago he  tried all the usual stalling techniques (I want water/milk/trains/thomas/toby/percy) and then ended with “I WANT JESUS!!!”.  After handing him his children’s bible he finally shut the H up and went to sleep (oops). Well, Jesus loves me when I’m bad. 😉

5. My sister has started a blog! (again!). It’s a project designed to infuse her love of fashion and family and can be found here. It promises to be FAB! After reincarnating her blog header 18 times I told her she would be dead to me if she didn’t blog within 48 hours. I was happy to see she blogged last night. Those would have been some pricey plane tickets out to Cali next month with no sister to visit. I can’t wait to see all the fun her blog has in store! Would you show her some love?

6. My Bachelor Prediction: Jake chooses no one.

If you’ve read a spoiler please don’t tell me. If you haven’t I’d love to hear YOUR prediction! If you don’t watch The Bachelor go right ahead and judge those of us who do. I would if I were you.

7. My most recent Etsy purchase. It hasn’t arrived yet but when it does it’s gaining a prominent spot in our (newly ORANGE!) hall bathroom. Orange had to be capitalized and excitedly punctuated in that sentence because, well, it’s ORANGE! (like really, really ORANGE!).

8. I think this is funny. That’s one bizarre family.

9. Speaking of bizarre families that I love, this one is coming to visit tomorrow!

10. Knowing that I’m hosting one of the best home chefs I know in my house for four nights why am I making all new recipes???

JenniferFebruary 23, 2010 - 1:34 pm

I made up the following ditty when Nick was being a stinker(sung to Jesus Loves Me): My mommy loves me this I know, cause she always tells me so. When I’m good and when I’m bad, it’s the greatest love and I’m so glad, that my mommy loves me, my mommy loves me, my mommy loves me and she always tells me so!

Mandy MooreFebruary 23, 2010 - 1:43 pm

Erin, I think Jake will choose Tenley. I said it when she stepped out of the limo on the first show. They do look like they both poop rainbows. However, I also think that there is a fine line between being a “nice guy” as he calls himself, and being a “puh” (my Dad’s word for sissy). And Jake is skating on that line.
Wouldn’t be surprised if he pulled a Jason Mesnik and changed his mind to Ally. Why do we watch this junk? LOL

P.S. the new etsy purchase is too cute! You’ll have to post pics when it’s all hung up. I think we all want to know what shade of orange our PigBear trend setter is using.

nickiFebruary 23, 2010 - 2:30 pm

Love the print you bought! ORANGE hallway…LET’S SEE IT!!!!
How is Ephraim doing on his train collection? Just curious :)…

AmyFebruary 23, 2010 - 2:46 pm

Bizarre and neurotic–that’s us. Glad to know the boys will fit right in with Sarah and Ephraim’s arguments (as I just refereed a “Ben doesn’t want THAT!” episode!

And new recipes, too! Yum!!

LisaFebruary 23, 2010 - 2:48 pm

I hope he picks no one! Neither one looked too happy in last night’s preview clips, but you know how deceiving that can be.

Meghan DavisFebruary 23, 2010 - 2:52 pm

I agree with Mandy! It was so funny when they showed all the clips of Tenley and made her out to be so Disney like and dreaming in cartoons. I hope he doesn’t pick Vienna. I’d agree that he may end up with Ali. I was proud of her for being so realistic and knowing that she couldn’t go running home if she lost her job and he didn’t choose her. I’m not a super fan of Jake himself. So, yes, why do we watch this stuff?

Thanks again for your oh so informative and generous video post. I played with the custom white balance on my D90 using the grey & white sides of my card, and the photos looked the same (in camera), I’ve yet to look on my computer. Does that make sense or should they be different?

adminFebruary 23, 2010 - 3:03 pm

Glad I’m not the only one who thinks Jake ends up with no one. I actually like Jake but, then again, I poop rainbows too. =)

Our bathroom’s orange is called “Autumn Orange” by Behr.

Nicki, Ephraim’s collection is certainly growing! He’s OBSESSED with Thomas and spends at least an hour everyday reading the catalog. It’s nuts. The awesome thing about Thomas cars is that it really IS more fun when there are more, right? And he doesn’t mind duplicates at all.

Meghan, that DOES make sense actually. Your camera reads white and grey as THE SAME. So it really doesn’t matter which side you use.

TracyFebruary 23, 2010 - 4:06 pm

I never thought of him choosing no one, but I could see it. I want it to be Tenley, but am thinking that is looking less likely. Jeremy has been watching it with me (this is top secret, of course.) I started your video today (with pen and paper in hand) , but got interuppted before it was over. I have really enjoyed it so far and will be finishing tonight.

SamanthaFebruary 23, 2010 - 4:16 pm

Why is Caroline doing moguls bizarre???? You are so mean.

Ephraim and Sarah’s fight reminds me of the time that Caroline was screaming “I don’t want Jesus in my heart! GET HIM OUT!!!”

I’m ridiculously jealous that Amy is going to be there this weekend. I want in, but with all the kids OUT.

If Jake picks Vienna (which everyone says he does) I am going to be SOMADATYOU that you made me watch this trash. In my ideal world, he breaks up with whoever he picks and then calls Ali, and then beyond the super intense spotlight of the show they develop a lasting relationship. Sigh. Oh how did you get my sucked into this trash???

KristinFebruary 23, 2010 - 5:20 pm

My 10 year old daughter’s favorite color is orange, she calls in aaar-ange. I think that’s why she likes it, it’s fun to say like that!! I can’t wait to see your new collage on aaaar-ange wallsee. Post pics!!

CatherineFebruary 23, 2010 - 6:31 pm

I’m glad there is someone else out there that watches the bachelor!! I don’t really admit too often that I watch it, but it is a fun show. My prediction is that Jake goes home alone. The show seems to lead us to believe that he does not choose anyone. We’ll see!

AshleyFebruary 23, 2010 - 7:21 pm

I love the quote, “Today I will be happier than a bird with a french fry.” I use it all the time when I’m having a particular trying day in kindergarten. It brings me back down to a smile & a laugh! 🙂

TawnyaFebruary 24, 2010 - 6:36 am

refresh my memory of when/where you will be in California and are you doing photo sessions?

Thanks!

JodieFebruary 24, 2010 - 9:37 am

Love your 10 on Tuesdays. One question – is there any way to format your blog so when you click on a link it opens to a new page? Currently when I click on links, it opens on the same page and I lose you.

Anyway… on to more important topics – The Bachelor. I hope he picks Tenley, they seem like a very good fit. I loved the other girls talking about how Tenley “fell out of a Disney movie.” Such a perfect description! But… based on the preview, it doesn’t look good. If he doesn’t pick Tenley, I hope he “pulls a Brad” and chooses no one. Vienna is a little too trashy, in my humble opinion.

adminFebruary 24, 2010 - 9:50 am

Tawnya, I’ll be in the Monterey Bay area from March 13-20. Unfortunately (gulp) all the session slots are filled already. I emailed everyone I had on the waiting list and they filled withint 24 hours. Please email if you’d like to be added to a cancellation list…or if you’d just like to know in advance of any other trips I plan out there.

Jodie, that’s a GREAT question and I’m sure there is. I dug around a little bit this morning and didn’t find it but I promise to look again. That is one of my biggest pet peeves on other sites so I know it’s a pain. I didn’t realize it was happening here. I’ll get on it…promise! In the meantime, does anyone else with a prophoto blog know where to look to find this feature?

Janelle AndersonFebruary 24, 2010 - 10:48 am

We totally got sucked into The Bachelor too! Hmmmm…I think I’m with you on your prediction! We are suckers and so ready for Monday. 🙂 Enjoy those boys who are headed your way! Miss you.

cathyFebruary 24, 2010 - 11:20 am

My sisters & I watch it together. My husband calls the show a “time suck” but we love watching it & of course commentating throughout. My sisters think he chooses no one because he’s in love with both & has commented that he can’t propose to someone unless he’s sure she’s the ONE. I think he chooses Vienna & I would like to believe that the show does good editing to make her look trashy & that she brings out the less Disney part of him making him less blah.

Melanie C.February 24, 2010 - 12:03 pm

I’m wondering if he picks no one and then tries to get Ali back. Personally, I think Tenley is way too good for him.

Are you going to post some pictures of your orange bathroom?

j.j.February 24, 2010 - 12:51 pm

i’m a huge dazeychic fan (she’s a minnesotan!) and have two prints but i’m always looking at her stuff for new – i love the one of the home. ah. come out in december for her craft show:)

Amy T.February 24, 2010 - 8:48 pm

What is it about the bachelor??? Why does it capture us and make us waste good time!?! My friends and I always laugh @ each other as we are huddled around the T.V. (minus our snuggies…I am praying they go on sale and I can buy everyone their very own!) judging every move/comment/OUTFIT (remember short shorts guy last seaons!). I hope for Aly, will scream if it Vienna, and if it Tenley I hope they scream “we’re going to Disney World!”.

LaceyFebruary 24, 2010 - 10:39 pm

Okay, know I’m late to the game here, but I just had a really good out-loud laugh on 3 & 4. It’s like I was there!!! (But kinda glad I wasn’t! ;- ) Sounds like your house needs some more Jesus! (Sorry, had to! ;- )

SierraFebruary 25, 2010 - 3:48 pm

Please o please share photos of your ORANGE bathroom??? My hubby and I are VERY orange people. It’s always been a favorite of his and now I love it too! So bright and cheery. When we married, he wore a traditional white suit, but when we went inside after the ceremony, he changed into an ALL ORANGE suit. A replica of the suit from Dumb & Dumber! It was awesome. lol Not so much to his Mom but she got over it. 🙂

adminFebruary 25, 2010 - 6:44 pm

Sierra, that is HILARIOUS! I’ll definitely take a pic in the next couple of weeks. My Etsy print isn’t here yet and I want to wait for it to arrive and be framed. Hopefully soon!

[…] I thought it would be fun to start doing a Ten on Tuesday posts. The Pigbear and Living on Shertzer Time do it, and I always look forward to reading […]
