GG.

Brent’s paternal grandmother, GG, is turning 90 this month. Tonight we’ll head to the riverhouse to celebrate her.

We’ll see Lily and Nate (and their parents). We’ll eat. We’ll tell GG stories. Someone might recall the time GG told me my legs looked chubby in tights. Or the time she asked if I knew how to drive. She’ll surely tell us about how Brent would never stay overnight with her but Tory always would. Brent will remember how painfully long shopping trips with GG at Wakefields were when he was a little boy. She’ll delight in having her son, her two grandboys, and her four grandchildren all in one place. And at some point we may even discuss GG’s love for the finer things in life – clothes, shoes, jewelry. A woman after my own heart.

Even at 90 years old, GG owns a lot of clothes. Which is why I’ll never know how it’s possible that on the day these nearly identical pictures were taken, two years and many, many, many states apart, GG wore the same shirt.

Don’t tell the Geeg…she’ll be mortified.

I, on the other hand, am thrilled. What a treasure to have these two identical pictures of my children with their great grandmother.

Of all the things GG has loved in this life, her babies just might take the cake.

Love you Geeg…I know I will never live down not staying with you when I was 2 years old, but I did reset your VCR clock about 500 times more than Tory. Happy Birthday!
