family.

Living hundreds (thousands?) of miles from our extended family really makes the time we do spend together so precious. We got to fly down to Florida this weekend to meet our new niece Lily and attend her baptism. Although we were tired and still a little jet-lagged from our Hawaiian excursion there was no way we were missing this! Little Lily is just about the sweetest thing ever – just ask Sarah. It’s a wonder Lily wasn’t smothered to death.

(Shameless sister plug: Lily wore a Gourmet Gown for her baptism, handmade especially for this occasion using her mama’s wedding dress fabric.)
Now for a media frenzy update. Sarah and I headed to Denver this morning to be on the channel 9 (kusa) morning show. Don’t laugh at me or my hand-talking during our 3 minutes and 9 seconds of fame: kusa. Check out my photo-a-day site to see Sarah in the anchor chair! Also, she was on the front page of the Rocky Mountain News today with a nice little story on the inside that you can read here. Tomorrow we head back to Denver for another morning show appearance, followed by the last one (for now!) on Thursday. Thanks for following along during all of the craziness!
Now to tie up some loose ends and questions…
Deb, I don’t use any studio lights and when I shoot a newborn on a background I use a large black piece of muslin or fleece. It takes some photoshopping afterwards but it works. My awesome friend Amy (LOVE her!) gave me a backdrop stand and backdrop for Christmas so I’ve started to use that a bit too.
Someone asked if we were actually moving to Fruita because I referenced that a few posts back. We’re actually moving to Hunstville, AL this summer but we occasionally dream of buying the Fruita brewery and setting up a commune with all of our friends (we can dream, right?!)
Christy, thank you SO much for your kind comment. Keira’s picture was GORGEOUS. I sure do wish we all could have headed to Hawaii…we could have taken over the island! How do your girls like the bear?

You did a great interview and Sarah sat there so nicely with her baby!

MeganJanuary 30, 2007 - 11:09 pm

It wouldn’t have been a real interview if you would not have been talking with your hands. You were you! I can’t get over how well Sarah sat for that all. Can’t wait to see more.

That is so neat! You and Sarah did so good. Ya’ll are like celebrities:) That is just great!! Oh and baby Liliy is just adoreable.

Thank you Erin! My girls love the bear. It’s become their favorite thing to tackle and roll around on and is a fixture in our play room. I only wish I thought to take pictures of Keira in the box, as you did with Sarah. It was huge! Good luck with everything and I wish we lived closer so you could photograph Ella & Keira because your pictures are truly wonderful!

How nerve racking, but you did great. Looks like you and Sarah are only beginning to start your media coverage! Should be fun. Lily looks so precious…can’t wait to see more pictures of her as she gets older.

See you tonight, Gina

The interview was great. It is one thing to talk to you on the phone, but to SEE you made me miss you even more…
And now you can take pictures of Amy’s baby. If she’s had it yet!

LisaJanuary 31, 2007 - 1:09 pm

You and your daughter are simply precious. Have you thought about entering into Regis and Kellys cutest baby contest? I know you said you didn’t think you would in the interview, but she is too cute not to!

carol moyerJanuary 31, 2007 - 1:25 pm

when are you moving to AL, we were hoping to be able to visit you in July while we are in Denver. We picked up a copy of US and my Sara (your former student) enjoyed the pictures

I agree, you did a great job on TV. I would’ve been a wreck, and I’m sure Stella would’ve thrown some major tantrum on the set. So good work!

I clogged up the grocery store line looking through US magazine today, and sure enough, I saw the pigbear. What a trip.

SamanthaJanuary 31, 2007 - 3:27 pm

Hey, Meghan – Put up a close up picture of the drss on your site. I’m dying to see the details!

Kristi & William SmithJanuary 31, 2007 - 8:50 pm

Hope you had fun in FL! Too bad we didn’t have the best weather for you. Isn’t it funny how kids know when they HAVE to rise to the occasion. Always amazes me…

E-mail me and fill me in on stuff! I know you are so busy, but I am so curious! I also need to know what morning show you’re going to be on today! I’ve missed the others!! Hope all is well!
