kindness and adorableness

Maybe you’ve noticed, although you probably haven’t but my fingers definitely have, that Sarah’s hairstyle of choice these days is the double frenchbraid. I actually like doing it although it’s highlighted her lack of cute hairbands. We have a plethora of clip bows but she and I just can’t quite get behind them. Plus her hair is generally too thick to make them work properly. Ribbon is an option (as seen here) but it tends to get lost or frayed or tied into knots after one use.

(by the way, the stick isn’t a fashion statement…just a mishap…although maybe we’ll start a new trend!)

What I really, really wanted were some ponytail holders that were cute. You know, souped up. Predictably I turned to Etsy and started searching. I didn’t really find what I was looking for but one of the reasons that I love Etsy (you do know I love Etsy, right?)  is that if you find a seller whose work you really like you can generally ask them to create exactly what you’re looking for. So when I found Sherryl’s adorable shop, Skylar’s Candy Clips, I convoed her (Etsy speak) asking if she could convert her clips to ponytail holders. She was so sweet and accomodating and I can’t wait for them to arrive!

After my order was finalized I mentioned that if she ever wanted to do a giveaway I’d love to host it for her. Her stuff is so cute (I particularly love the “what’s your letter” clips) and I wanted to share what I’d found. She got right back to me saying she would love to and that she was hoping it would help her in her quest to raise and donate funds to the family of little Cici who was disabled in a choking incident when she was 11 months old. Fifty percent of the proceeds from this posy and this headband will go directly to Cici’s special needs trust account. Two cheers for kindness!! =)

So in an effort to highlight that particular item (and because I want you to know how cute the rest of her shop is too!) Sherryl is giving away one of the posy’s and one of the handbands here. Just leave a comment between now and…the next time I blog (and you know how that goes!)…and I’ll let choose two winners.

Have at it!

My little one is a fan of the double french braid too. Unfortunately, i can’t do it 🙁 So unless my mom or a teacher at school fixes her hair she’s out of luck. These hair bands are so cute that i just might have to teach myself how to braid!
