update on the Pigbear

Hi all.

After my last post we had quite a bit of Pigbear drama. As Sarah was recovering from her stomach bug she decided not to take any food or fluid. After trying to hydrate her with an eyedropper (trust me, NOT fun), we had to take her to the ER where they admitted her for dehydration. We spent Wednesday night in the hospital which was one of the most tramautic experiences of my life – especially after she pulled out her first IV and had to get stuck again, and again, and again. The catheter wasn’t any fun either.

At any rate, we’re home. We have a healthy Pigbear who is eating and drinking like the little piglet that she typically is. We are more thankful for her than we ever have been, and we have a new perspective on what it means to have a healthy baby (99.9% of the time). Spending one night in the hospital was enough for me…I just can’t wrap my mind around how it is for those who have really ill babies. My heart aches for them.

So, there it is. Thanks for your happy thoughts. Hopefully I’ll be posting pictures of our happy, squealy little Pi’bears real soon!!

Sarah,
Glad to hear you are feeling better. It’s no fun getting those IV’s. I was poked 4 times too. Good thing we have great mommies and daddies to take care of us and who love us tons! Keep healing!
Love,
Noah
Erin – you are so right – really puts things into perspective doesn’t it – so glad to hear you guys are on the mend! – Colleen

Hey Erin,

Wow, reading that took me back to the one night I had to spend in the hospital with Stella – probably the worst night of my life – so I totally feel for you, and I am SO glad that you and sweet Sarah are back home, healthy. We love her and you guys!

(I would say Aunt-P…but that doesn’t sound too nice does it).

P.S. Erin, Sarah’s hair is getting so much lighter (hard to believe she was born with such dark, brown locks!)

You and Brent have to pat yourselves on your backs for making it through this. It was tough and you all survived. You have a very strong little girl in Sarah. Give her extra squeezes. So glad that everything turned out ok.

I’m so glad that everything turned out alright! After having kids in the NICU and in Children’s, I have decided that everyone advocate healthcare for children and support for parents. It really was a blessing.
I feel for you being there all night – it is tough on Mommy! Rest up, cuddle lots, and know that we are all keeping you in our prayers.

Brent, Erin, and Sarah,

So sorry to hear about the illness and stay at the hospital. It is one thing to see a grown-up in pain, but with a little one, one’s heart does hurt. As, they are just not sure what is going on. Thank goodness for mom and dad, by her side.
Biil & I, too had to spend time in the hospital, with Paul. Having surgery and waiting for the outcome is so very hard.
Glad to see that you all are at home and things are looking up.
Love to you all….
