snapshots of freedom.

Monday the kiddos started school. Preschool four hours a day, three mornings a week is an almost incomprehensible amount of time. Joyously incomprehensible. The idea that I might actually be able to get enough work done during the day so as to reclaim my evenings makes my head spin with delirious excitement. Just think of all the things I can do in the evenings – bike rides! and television! and church meetings! Er, well, I might need to work on that last exciting bulletin. Church meetings are most definitely not how I’d like to spend my evenings but seeing as how between the two of us we have FIVE this week, I need to just make my peace with it. Church is a hard thing to say no to. Amen?

But I digress.

Monday the kiddos started school.

Sarah has been counting down the days and was more than willing to pose for a quick snap on the way out the door. That is, if “I’ll take a few pictures only if you promise me a baggie full of Cheerios when we’re done” counts as “more than willing.”

B-Ro on the other hand had no interest in sitting down for a picture. His only interest was what might be inside his Tiger lunch box.

For the record, it was a sunflower butter and honey sandwich,

some wheat thins,

and a few grapes – cut in half, of course. Oh, and some milk. Not too exciting.

┬áBut B-Ro didn’t know that. And he was not happy about the not knowing. And probably not too happy about the overbearing big sister sticking her mug all up in his face.

So he finally pitched the thing onto the ground. And started in on his sister.

Which meant our little photoshoot was over.

And thus, our school year began.

B-Ro in preschool already?!?! He’s just barely in a big-boy bed? I can totally understand the joy in a few hours to yourself though!! Wish I could get a couple….

ha ha! The girls had reading assessment days Monday and Tuesday so they were home all day long and Jacob was NOT happy. He was ready for today when they went back and he had the whole morning to himself!

MeganAugust 26, 2009 - 1:29 pm

sorry that last comment was me. I didn’t realize I didn’t sign in. sorry.

KellyAugust 26, 2009 - 1:37 pm

Nice shirt B-Ro! Hope you two had fun at school! and that mama got a lot of work done.

SamanthaAugust 26, 2009 - 2:58 pm

Thanks for obliging me. I hate you even more now that you reminded me that your preschool is FOUR HOURS. We get a lousy 2.5.

GinaAugust 26, 2009 - 7:29 pm

Hope you got a lot done while they were off at school! They both look huge and Sarah’s dress is too cute!

P.C.August 26, 2009 - 7:31 pm

Yeah for the school kids! They are just adorable! Hugs and Kisses.

AmyAugust 26, 2009 - 9:08 pm

Love B-Ro’s shirt! čÖé Oh, I can just taste the joy in all that time for you! I’m SO jealous and so excited to get at least 3 hours once a week with only the infant.

I need Sarah to give Hayden a few lessons in hamming it up for the camera!

DarleneAugust 26, 2009 - 10:03 pm

B-Ro looks so cute and like such a big boy with his Haircut but, his curls were absolutely adorable! Oh and Sarah just keeps getting prettier and prettier.

KristaAugust 27, 2009 - 7:26 am

They look great and so grown up! I hope it went well for them and you at home!

j.j.August 27, 2009 - 11:57 am

no kidding, i’m with samantha. i got a lousy 2.5 last year and 3 this year. kindergarten is even more of a joke with 2.5 hours 5 days a week!

HeidiAugust 27, 2009 - 12:07 pm

I hafta ask: where’d you find that cutie tiger lunch bag? I’ve been wanting to find some cute ones for my boys.

Your children are beautiful.

Aunt LuAugust 27, 2009 - 12:09 pm

OMG I had such a great time with them……thanks for sharing them even though B-Ro got up at 5:20 one morning. Hay I gotta take what I can get……Love his hair cut.

this has got to be one of your funniest posts. love this: “not too happy about the overbearing big sister sticking her mug all up in his face.” hahahhahaahahaha! and the picture is TO DIE FOR. love, love, love these wonderful, silly, sweet moments caught on film.

AngieAugust 27, 2009 - 1:26 pm

Wow! That’s a lot of YOU time! Lucky girl. But what will you do without those two cute little faces to take pictures of four hours a day?! čÖé (And hello… FOUR?! That beats 2.5 hours anyday. Well, obviously.)

Is she seriously that cute and happy all. the. time!?

AngAugust 27, 2009 - 6:18 pm

OK, so I’ve gotta ask…I’m obviously not “crunchy”….what in the world is sunflower butter? You know about the coolest stuff!

adminAugust 28, 2009 - 1:30 pm

Heidi, I ordered it from a friend here in Huntsville. It’s made my Stephen Joseph whose company you can find here:

Ang, sunflower butter is basically like peanut butter (find it in the same place at any well-stocked grocery store) but it’s made from sunflower seeds which makes it a great choice for kids who are allergic to nuts, like our little B-Ro!
