ten on tuesday.

1. Let’s start with a confession. Remember back when I mentioned cancelling our cable? Yeah, well, I didn’t do it. See our plan was to switch to basic cable which would give us just the networks. We would mourn ESPN (college football), Lifetime (Project Runway), and Comedy Central (The Daily Show, The Colbert Report) but somehow we thought we would survive. We never got the chance to find out though since when I called to cancel the cable lady on the other end informed me that the difference between our 77 channels and the 13 we were hoping to downgrade to would be $1.50. WHAT?! That’s what you call insanity. I thought about cancelling anyway just on principle but that would be true insanity. I know when I’ve been beat.

2. I’ve been meaning to share this one for a couple of weeks since some of you have asked how Ephraim is doing in his big boy bed. He did fall out once the first night but then I remembered my friend Christi’s amazing words of advice – get a noodle! The next day we drove to a big box store that shall remain nameless and picked up two pool noddles. The noodles are now safely tucked under the fitted sheet on each side of B-Ro’s big boy bed, keeping him snug as a bug in a rug inside. He hasn’t fallen out since. There have been several times that we’ve gone in to check on him, only to find him cozied up next to the noodle. It only rises up a couple of inches but that’s enough to keep his little body from slipping out of bed. Give it a try!

3. Guess who won $60 at the Roulette table in Vegas?! It was my one and only time to sidle up to the table. You better believe I took the money and ran!

4. My friend Amy is amazing. Her photography has grown by leaps and bounds over the last couple of years and while we were in the Poconos the Cobb family got to be the beneficiaries of all of her learning. I am in love with every single picture she took. Check them out here and be sure to leave her some love and encouragement!

5. The Pigbear’s Light the Night…for Ally fundraiser has been going strong for the last two weeks. I’m SO excited that so many of you have chosen to participate! My Vegas trip put me a little behind and I know there are several of you waiting for your questions to be answered. Have no fear, I’m ON IT! I’ll be spending the early part of this week catching up but don’t hesitate even for a second about sending your questions if you haven’t already done so. Our version of the fundraiser will be over on September 1st so don’t miss out on your chance to get in on the action! So far we’re at 300.00 and counting. Let’s make it to 500.00, shall we?

6. There are other generous souls pitching in to support Ally and her family as they prepare for the Light the Night walk. One of those is Amanda, whose work I’ve featured and given away here before. Amanda created this awesome piece for me  last year…it rarely leaves my neck! Anyway, Amanda will be donating $10 of every purchase to Ally’s Light the Night team. Here’s another great way to stock up on something fabulous while supporting those who are fighting blood cancers like leukemia. Check her out!

7. I continue to be amazed by my fruits and veggies from Grow Alabama. They called last week to check on us and see how we’re liking the service. When I mentioned how much I LOVED the figs from last week (seriously, they’re unbelievable!) they said they’d look to see if they had anymore they could send my way. So no figs this week but they threw in a couple jars of fig preserves. How nice is that?!

8. I love how Amy features all of the recipes she’ll be cooking each week in the sidebar of her blog. (Have I mentioned she’s amazing?). I’m not nearly as dedicated as she is but I thought I’d share our recipes for the week since they were inspired 100% by our Grow Alabama veggies: Pork and Bell Pepper Stew, Pasta with Eggplant and Sausage, Fresh Tomato and Pesto Pizza, Turkey and Cheese PaninisSummer Squash Soup with Pasta and Parmesan, and Hoppin’ John. Haven’t picked my Hoppin’ John recipe yet but I’ll probably adapt this one and just throw in whatever okra, tomatoes, and peppers we have left. Yum!

9. I’m hungry now.

10. While at my mom’s last week en route to Vegas I got to visit with my Aunt Lori and Grama for a few days. My Grama recently purchased a laptop and has been teaching herself to use the internet. I’m so proud! We had a little lesson while I was there and since I know she checks my blog I just wanted to say I’m proud of you Grama!!!

Checked out Amy’s pics but when I tried to leave a comment it wouldn’t let me because I apparently don’t belong to any of the required program sites? Just wanted to let you know how much I LOVED the pics of your fam!!! Have you noticed how the expression on your face changes in the pictures of you and Brent? There is something in your eyes – the love and what I can only describe as a feeling of being safe. It’s truly heartwarming!! Her pics are great!!! Pass it on…

Wow. You have done a great job raising money for Ally’s walk. Thank you so so much. And, I am just thinking of moving Carly into the bed and I LOVE that noodle idea.

Your friend Christi is a genius. I’m SO trying the noodle when William moves to a big boy bed. I’m tempted to get one for Caroline, who STILL falls out of her bed a year and a half later.
