something so cool

No new pics today. Just wanted to fill you guys in on something we are SO excited about.

Sarah’s 1st birthday is coming up on October 28th and I’m about to kick into big time party-planning gear. Sarah is in love with animals of any kind so I think we’re going to have a Down on the Farm party for her (well okay, let’s just face it – the party is for US!). Our house is already cram-packed with toys that she just doesn’t play with so we have decided to go a little nontraditional with her gifts this year. We registered with Heifer International so that in lieu of birthday gifts Sarah’s friends and family can make an even bigger difference with the Pigbear in mind. Heifer International is an organization that, through donations from people like all of us, fights world hunger by giving livestock and other life-changing, profit-bearing materials to impoverished people around the world. The registry works basically like any other store registry – Sarah picked out some of her favorite animals (with a little help from Mom and Dad) and would like for you to consider buying one. Or a share of one – but no, Grandaddy, you can’t just buy an udder.

Check out her registry here.

And for those of you coming to her party in October, we don’t want to completely spoil your gift-giving fun so we’re asking that you wrap up something from you home that you think a one-year old would like to play with. Just to give you some ideas Sarah is currently enthralled with phone cords, water bottles, milk lids, boxes, hangers, and anything else along those lines.

Thanks for spreading the Pigbear love!

a little caveat for the family members that are screaming “nooooooo” at your computer screen right now: grandparents, aunt, uncles, and the like may be excluded from this little adventure if you just can’t bear the idea of not getting Sarah a gift (or if you’ve already gotten her a gift). So please, don’t hate.

I love this idea and wish I’d thought of it for our little guy… We’ve given Heifer gifts for Christmas the past few years and it’s always so rewarding. Kudos to you and your creativity!

Oh, I wish I could be there for the big bash! We can’t wait to hear about all the fun Sarah has on her 1st b’day.
We’re heading out to the river house today and moving out the adult furniture from Lily’s room (one step closer)….
Much Love,
P.Cobb

Wonderful idea! With her mommy and daddy as such wonderful examples I know Sarah is going to grow up with as loving and giving a heart as you have. I love you!

How fun! I think that’s a fabulous idea and wonderful way to celebrate Sarah’s first year!

Don’t hate!
I love this idea – I just resolved to not buy any Xmas gifts that weren’t consumable in some way (regional foodstuff, golf lessons, etc) and I’m phsyched to be letting go of “stuff”! Can we wear flannel & overalls to the party? 🙂

I know this is a week late, but hey, I’ve been busy! Anyway, weren’t you the one looking for ways to fill Lori’s challenge of “Ramdom Acts of Kindness”? I think this does the trick!!
