By popular demand (+ the demand of my mother who trumps all other demanders), here are a few pics of the big boy in his big boy bed.
The sheet set is from Target. When I saw it on the shelf several months back I grabbed it and stashed it away. The colors couldn’t be more perfect for the room he already has. The quilt is from the Pottery Barn Outlet. Whether or not it stays is debatable but I like it for now. I’m thinking about searching etsy for someone to make me a great big body pillow to complete the top of his bed. I don’t know exactly what I want it to look like but I’ll know it when I see it. Plus it’ll work great to catch the little guy when he falls out…and he will fall out. Heck, he already has. 😉
Ephraim is not quite 21 months. We moved Sarah at the same age because we had just moved into a new house and didn’t want to bother with setting up the crib, only to take it away a few months later and hand it down to her brother. It worked out great so we decided to push our luck a second time and boot B-Ro from the crib a bit early too. He wasn’t climbing out and he wasn’t outgrowing his crib so those weren’t concerns but it just felt like the right time.
There were a few benefits for us to moving his crib out and his big boy bed in. First, he’s still fairly compliant and I know from experience that that’s about to come to a screeching halt. Better to get him used to a bed now before he enters the “I know more than Mommy” stage. Second, his room isn’t huge and while his crib is definitely smaller than his bed I knew that if we set up the bed we could also get rid of the rocker which takes up a large chunk of the room. The rocker has always been the place that we snuggle and read books but now we can do that on his bed. So we actually freed up a good bit more play space for the little guy. Plus the bed is a pretty fun place to play too!
And apparently Ephraim’s not the only boy in this family who feels that way.
Sheesh.
