same. (but different)

You wouldn’t believe it judging by my lack of posts but I actually have a backlog of bloggable material. It’s just a matter of matching the pictures to the words! I’ve had this one in the queue for over three weeks now. (by the way, I love the word “queue”. Now if I can just figure out a way to work in “mind the gap”…).

Sarah started two year old preschool last August when she was just shy of three years old. Now she’s three and a half, and getting a little too familiar with four if you ask me. Lots of things have changed since last August but a whole bunch of  things have stayed pleasantly the same. For my heart’s sake let’s focus on the sameness, shall we?

Same southern bows acquired by mommy after a short-lived but brutal inner style war?

 check.

Same bangs that play a near-constant tug of war between much too short (where we are as of Friday night) and way too long?

check.

Same knobby knees (albeit slimmer) and bruised up shins?

check.

Same tattered doormat that doesn’t get shaken out nearly enough?

oops…sorry…forgot for a sec that we were talking about the kid.

Same Pi’bears style that doesn’t stray far from skirts and dresses everyday?

check.

See? She’s really not that different. Forget that her legs must have sprouted six inches since the fall and her face has taken on a decided shape. Who cares that she now loves my camera but had to be bribed with gum to sit still for a shot last year. Don’t even mention that she couldn’t squeeze her feet into those cute little white tennies even if she tried stepsister-style. Meaningless I tell you.

She’s exactly the same.

(now hush.)

I may not be able to agree with you, but I can sympathize. :o) I posted a similar “same shot, same (or different?) girl” thing a week or two ago. It almost made me cry. Okay, I did cry.

I love these before/after shots : ) J.J. posted a fun one, too. Just wait until 4.5 rolls around… we were ready to give Maddie away to the gypsies for about three months when she hit 4.5… luckily it passed : )

How sweet is she! (then & now 🙂

Oh, just wait until she turns 5 and there is just no more “baby” about her. It’s just gone the second she becomes 5. It’s happened to Mazie and now Jamie. I think we will just try to skip 5 for Jacob. Sounds like a good plan, right? I love the knobby knees and bruises. So much like my girlies.

Wow!! She really has changed. Still so sweet! It is so hard to see it in person as it happens so gradually. That’s another reason your photography is such a gift to us. Not only do we get to watch your family, but you document so beautifully our lives that pass by so quickly. Thank you! And I loved seeing you on the last two posts!!!!
