quick stop.

A funny thing happened on the way to get our Christmas tree last Thursday.

We picked up Grandaddy, loaded into the truck and headed toward Home Depot. Halfway there Brent announced that he had to make a quick stop to take care of an errand. This began lots of wailing and gnashing of teeth by the truck’s occupants who loath quick stops (myself included).

The “quick stop” turned out to be a Huntsville Animal Services, which sounded no alarms for our children. After all, they’ve been told for the entirety of their lives that they are never ever under any circumstances getting a dog. Daddy just had to run in and pick something up. End of story. No questions asked.

To pass the time during the quick stop we got out and stretched our legs.

And posed for pictures in front of the doggies.

And then this happened…

And that little series of events taught our children two important lessons:

1. Sometimes quick stops are worth it.

2. Never, ever under any circumstance believe your parents when they say you’re never getting a dog.

Welcome to the family Tigger Tiger Cobb.

We love you already.

Good for you guys! Our best dogs have always been older dogs who were a little down in their luck. Enjoy!

You.just.made.me.cry. How wonderful – what you did for both your kids AND your dog! What I noticed first in the first picture with Tigger was not the kids reaction, but the way he is looking at your kids! Congrats – it will be so worth it!
