The National Children’s Advocacy Center Bike-A-Fun/Run | Huntsville Mom About Town

Hi friends! It’s me – Erin – filling in once again for our new mama and Mom About Town, Heather Richardson. Heather and Jude are doing great! In fact, they’re on their way over right now. And can I just say that living across the street from a newborn is AMAZING?! So many snuggles, yet so much sleep at night. 😉

But on to the matter at hand. Today I’m excited to share with you guys about an awesome event coming up next month in Huntsville. As you probably know our community is home to the National Children’s Advocacy Center. The mission of the center is “to model, promote, and deliver excellence in child abuse response and prevention through service, education, and leadership.” It’s an amazing organization that champions the cause of abused children at every turn. And while that topic may feel like a downer on a Monday morning it fills me with such HOPE and JOY that organizations like the NCAC exist to speak (and shout!) for those who have no voice.

One of my favorite client-turned-friends, Jackie Roche, has teamed up with the NCAC to host their first ever Superheroes Bike-A-Fun/Run. And it’s going to be awesome! On Saturday, April 14th families from across our area will gather together at the Center (210 Pratt Avenue) for a timed one mile race, a 5k bike ride, and a one mile (not timed) fun run. The cost to participate is $15 per participant and all proceeds will go to support the mission of the NCAC.

One of the super cool things about the Fun Run at 10:00 is that there won’t be a traditional winner. Rather, it will truly be a “fun” run…and the winner will be the child/family who is having the most fun! Marla and I will be tag teaming this event and she’ll be stationed along the course grabbing shots of each racer as they pass. I’ll be photographing grandparent mini sessions on that day but I have a feeling my own kiddos will be there with their daddy. Once the day is over we’ll post the images on Facebook for a “who had the most fun?” contest! The winner will win a $200 gift certificate to Erin Cobb Photography! How’s that for fun?!

So mark your calendar for April 14th at 8:00, 9:00, and 10:00 for some SUPERHERO fun! And remember: Every child needs a hero, but abused children need SUPERHEROES.

Amy Boyd Soooo glad you ladies are highlighting this awesome event! It should be tons of fun! Don’t forget to stay for the block party afterwards; my own children LOVE it. And it’s FREE!
