for the love of grandparents | huntsville family and child portraits

Photographers, when was the last time a grandparent called you up and asked to schedule a session for themselves with their grandchildren?

I’ll answer that for you: NEVER.

But how many times have you heard a parent lovingly mention how much they would love that same photograph? And how often have you wished that you had your own priceless image with your own precious grandparents? And how often have you taken orders from grandparents over the phone who just couldn’t stop oohing and aahing over the most recent set of images you’ve made of their grandchildren?

I’ll answer that for you too: ALL.THE.TIME.

Grandparents are undeniably special. And selfless. And they deserve to have the gift of photography with their grandchildren. And their grandchildren deserve it. And so do the parents sandwiched right in the middle. What a win-win-win situation for everyone involved.

My point is, if you’re a photographer and you’ve never considered dedicating a day to grandparents, think again. It has quickly become one of my favorite days of the year. And if you offer it, I promise they’ll respond. Because you can’t deny the absolutely irreplaceable value of this…

And this…

And while you’re at it, why not grab a shot of just the two of them? Their children and grandchildren will love you for it!

Oh how I wish I had THIS image of my Papa John and me…

Can’t you just feel the love sandwich this sweet baby gets to be part of ?!

And speaking of being loved, this child knows a thing or two about that…

I think I heard this sweet grandmother say the words, “I love this baby!” at least 10 times in the course of our time together. Precious, precious memories. And grandmother isn’t the only one who feels that way…

This is just the beginning of a few days worth of grandparent minisession sneak peeks. So get excited. The love is about to get real deep up in here!

beth rorex Gotta love the Bradford and Wright Families!! Beautiful pictures!!

Carole Anne Ellers Just beautiful!!! Thank you Erin. You are amazing!

Julie K I just captured individual portraits of my 6 aunts and uncles after a family funeral. I’m so glad I got them and will treasure them forever. My oldest aunt is 78. Great idea for mini sessions and just before Mother’s Day.
